The Kia Carens EV will enter showrooms in June 2025. Previews of the electric MPV ahead of its formal launch, the electric MPV has been spied with half camouflage in front of a charging point.
The test mule has a blacked-off grille, updated LED headlamps & DRLs and also has a charging port on the front fender. Unlike the standard model, the electric Carens has the aero-optimized alloy wheels. It also features slightly modified taillamps joined through a light bar.
Interiors and more features
Some EV-exclusive changes will also be made inside the cabin. The Kia Carens EV is expected to feature the new seat upholstery and trims and new dashboard design. It may also have the Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, which will be segment-first. This electric MPV may also be available with a 360 degree camera.
Exteriors and more
The Kia Carens EV will be marginally similar in terms of its silhouette, with the same design and exterior styling. But there will be giveaways to distinguish it from the ICE variant, such as a blanked-off grille, charging port on the front fender, aero treatment for the alloy wheels, updated LED headlamps and DRLs, and new tail lamps with a connecting light bar.
Powertrain of the new car
There is no word yet on its powertrain and specifications. But the Kia Carens EV is likely to be available with a 42kWh battery pack and a 135bhp electric motor, shared with the Hyundai Creta electric. This combination offers a claimed ARAI range of 390km after a full charge.
Expected Price Range
The Kia Carens EV prices will begin at Rs 16 lakh – Rs 18 lakh for the entry-level variant and the range-topping trim will be priced at about Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Update on 2025 Kia Carens
The Carens MPV family will also be augmented by a premium trim in April 2025. The new premium Carens model will coexist with the refreshed regular model. It's expected to take some cues from the Syros like a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic display panel, Level 2 ADAS, OTA updates among other things. Mechanical modifications are unlikely.
The 2025 Kia Carens will probably retain the same 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel powertrains. Transmissions too will be brought forward from the existing model.
Conclusion
The Kia Carens EV is shaping up to be an exciting addition to Kia India's lineup, marking the brand’s push into the mainstream EV market. With its EV-specific design updates, potential ADAS features, and a competitive range, it aims to offer a blend of practicality and modern technology. While official specifications are yet to be confirmed, the expected launch in June 2025 hints that more details will emerge soon. With a price range that positions it competitively in the electric MPV space, the Carens EV could attract a wide audience looking for a spacious, feature-packed EV.
