Though completely camouflaged, several changes on the front fascia can be observed. The lighting configuration is much sharper, which is in line with Tata's new design language offered with its newer models. The grille and bumper also have tweaks. These tweaks provide the hatchback with a sportier look.
This specific test car comes with steel wheels, which would point to one of the lower trims. Previous test cars of the Tata Altroz facelift were spotted with a fresh design for alloy wheels. Rear-end, Altroz facelift is expected to receive updated LED tail lights and a revised bumper.
More Information
According to the car spotters, the dashboard and the screens were covered. Some of the changes were visible, like piano black finish on the AC vents. Another change is the new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo in the middle. This is already in use with Tata's other vehicles, like the Nexon.
Features for the Altroz facelift could be ventilated front seats, a new 10.2-inch instrument screen, new ambient lighting, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a powered driver's seat. Safety could be improved with 6-airbags standard across all trims and camera-based ADAS features.
Powertrain of the Altroz CNG Facelift
Altroz CNG will be powered by the same 1.2-litre dual-fuel engine as the current car. When operating in CNG mode, the engine produces 73.5 PS and 103 Nm of torque. Altroz CNG will be available with just a 5-speed manual gearbox. Regarding the Altroz facelift, the powertrains will be the same, too.
Regular versions are available with a 1.2-litre petrol motor and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor. The petrol engine develops 88 PS and 115 Nm of torque. It is available with transmission alternatives of 5-speed MT and 6-speed DCA.
The diesel motor develops 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. It is available with a lone 5-speed manual transmission only. Tata also has the Altroz Racer, which uses a 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor. It churns out 120 PS and 170 Nm and is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Altroz CNG facelift to continue being a rival to Maruti Baleno CNG variant
Altroz CNG facelift will still compete with the Maruti Baleno CNG variant. The latter gets a 1.2-litre dual-fuel engine producing 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm in CNG mode. Baleno CNG comes with a 5-speed manual transmission only. The premium hatchback segment also includes the Hyundai i20, but it is not available with a CNG variant. i20 standard trims have a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, while the i20 N Line has a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
Conclusion
The new Tata Altroz CNG facelift is set to refine the hatchback's appeal with new styling, upgraded features, and improved safety. While keeping its distinctive dual CNG tank arrangement and tried-and-tested powertrain options, the facelift is set to offer a more premium driving experience with contemporary design cues and tech updates. With its competitors such as the Maruti Baleno CNG already in the market, the updated Altroz CNG might provide a more compelling proposition for consumers who seek efficiency, beauty, and space in a package. With the launch approaching, more information will be revealed, but it's evident that Tata Motors is set to revisit and exceed the premium hatchback segment benchmark once more.
