Renault India has launched a new transformation strategy in India named Renault Rethink and inaugurated the Renault Design Centre Chennai. The design studio will work on a plethora of concept and model developments focused on the Indian market and contribute to the international project in the larger brand interests.
It is the largest design centre outside France, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies displaying an ultra-modern innovation environment. The automaker also presented its prospective design language for India.
5 New Models For India: Sunroof For All Cars
Renault said that five new models meant for India are planned to be unveiled by April 2027. These new cars will have a sunroof option as option, said Renault.
B and C segment SUVs (the new-gen Duster and the Duster 7-seater), a localized EV, and new-gen Kiger and Triber will be part of this lineup. The third-generation Renault Duster will hit Indian roads in 2026, followed by the 7-seater version.
The Duster 5-seater will face the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. The 7-seater Renault Duster will take on the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar. Both SUVs will be offered with petrol engines only, while the specs are still a secret.
One of the Renault EVs could be a highly localized version of the Dacia Spring EV based on the CMF-A platform. The next-generation Renault Kiger and Triber are set to receive extreme design changes and upgrades in the interior.
Recently, Renault acquired Nissan's 51% stake in RNAIPL, thus gaining full ownership of the Chennai manufacturing facility. Both companies, however, will continue their collaboration on various existing projects, including the development of five new models for India. The full ownership decision will help strengthen Renault's market in India, especially in the EV segment, while Nissan will still be able to maintain a presence and carry out the associated sales and service operations.
