The Volkswagen Group is introducing 20 new models from its brands, five of which are world premieres. Three Volkswagen concept cars are debuting with the ID. ERA, ID. EVO and ID. AURA.
These vehicles are a new generation of fully connected electric vehicles specifically designed for the Chinese market. Audi has also announced its new electric model based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, the A6L e-tron, and the initial series model since the luxury vehicle maker's rebranding, the E5 Sportback.
New Cars designed and developed for China
Designed and developed in China, the five world premieres also initiate the Group's biggest ICV offensive in China to date. By 2027, the Volkswagen Group is going to bring to market more than 20 fully electric and electrified vehicles, and by 2030, the Group brands will have about 30 purely electric vehicles.
New Tech launched at the Company’s event
During Group Night, VW unveiled its AI-aided automated driving assistance system (ADAS). CARIAD's joint venture CARIZON, the centre of excellence for advanced driving assistance systems and autonomous driving solutions in China, developed the system.
According to VW, the system establishes new standards with its especially natural driving behavior in every traffic situation. Volkswagen will launch the first vehicle with this technology this year. Beginning in 2026, the system will be implemented in a new generation of highly connected compact-class vehicles, enabling automated driving assistance functions to reach more Chinese customers in lower vehicle segments.
Conclusion
Volkswagen's recent news highlights its intense focus on electrification and tech innovation, especially in China. With more than 20 new electric and electrified models under development by 2027 and the launch of AI-based ADAS tailored especially for China, the Group is well set to become a strong player in future mobility. Concept cars such as the ID. ERA, ID. EVO and ID. AURA, along with Audi’s luxury electric models, highlights a clear shift toward smart, connected, and sustainable transportation. As Volkswagen accelerates its transformation, consumers can expect a dynamic lineup of cutting-edge electric vehicles designed to meet both global and regional demands.
