The XUV700 is being rebranded and redesigned by Mahindra as the XUV 7XO, with significant technological and design improvements.
Key interior, appearance, and powertrain upgrades, along with the projected launch date and positioning.
A rebranding of the XUV700 SUV is suggested by Mahindra's trademark application for the moniker XUV 7XO. This is in line with the company's current naming policy, such as the reintroduction of the XUV300 facelift as the XUV 3XO.
Mahindra is using this facelift to give the SUV a more upscale and contemporary vibe, so the name change is more than just a cosmetic one.
Vibrant Exterior Redesign
It is anticipated that the front fascia would be redesigned, with dual-barrel LED projector headlamps and a larger grille with vertical slats.
The former style will probably be replaced by a U-shaped daytime running lamp (DRL) trademark.
The alloy wheels have a new, aerodynamically optimized shape, and the bumper has been modified.
The SUV may have an elegant bumper style and a full-width LED light strip at the back.
The basic body structure, doors, bonnet, and fenders are anticipated to stay mostly unaltered despite these modifications.
High-Tech, Luxurious Interior
A triple-screen dashboard, a digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen, and a screen specifically for the front passenger will be installed inside the XUV 7XO. For this high-end design, Mahindra looks to its electric SUV series, such as the XEV 9e.
Additionally, comfort is being improved with features like ventilation, optional massaging, second-row captain seats, and even BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) rear entertainment capability.
Anticipate advanced parking technologies, including self-parking, ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a Harman/Kardon audio system (perhaps with Dolby Atmos).
Mahindra intends to improve its Level-2 ADAS suite in terms of safety and driver-support technology by adding features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and potentially self-parking.
What Remains the Same in the Powertrain
The XUV 7XO is anticipated to use the same 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engines as the present XUV700. Both engines will still come with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive (AWD) will probably continue to be an option for the diesel-automatic models.
Launch and Pricing Prospects
According to spy reports and trademark applications, the XUV 7XO is anticipated to debut in January 2026. It may cost between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh more than the existing XUV700 due to its improved interior, technology, and styling, depending on the model.
In the Indian market, it will still compete with other large, high-end SUVs, possibly facing off against competitors like the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari.
