In less than 400 days, MG Windsor EV sales have surpassed 50,000 units.
Strong demand, clever pricing (Battery-as-a-Service), and widespread appeal across cities are important contributors to its success.
In under 400 days since production started in October 2024, JSW MG Motor India's Windsor EV has sold more than 50,000 units. As a result, it is the fastest four-wheeler electric vehicle in India to reach that goal.
According to retail data, around 45,653 units were sold between November 2024 and October 2025, with the remaining approximately 4,300 units arriving in the first few weeks of November 2025.
The Reasons Behind the Windsor's Excessive Flight
Strong Market Demand
The Windsor has been shifting more than 3,800 units a month on average, with recent months seeing more than 4,000.
Sales in Tier-2 and Tier-3 municipalities have remained consistent, demonstrating that its appeal is not just confined to large cities.
Adaptable & Cost-effective Ownership
Its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) approach is one of the main attractions. This lowers the initial cost because buyers can purchase the vehicle for less money and rent the battery separately.
A 38 kWh pack (range ~332 km) and a bigger 52.9 kWh pack for the "Pro" variant (claimed range ~449 km) are the two battery options available.
Feature-Rich Design
The EV delivers 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. It has a spacious, luxurious cabin, reclining "Aero Lounge" seats (up to 135°), and a huge 15.6-inch GRANDVIEW touchscreen.
Six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System) are among the safety features.
Effect on the Market Share of MG
The Windsor's quick success has improved MG's standing in the Indian EV market. Since the launch of Windsor, the company's EV market share has reportedly increased significantly.
According to Anurag Mehrotra, MD of JSW MG Motor, this milestone shows that consumers are adopting electric vehicles, particularly when they are useful, fashionable, and cost-effective.
What This Signifies for the EV Scene in India
The Windsor's performance shows that EVs are becoming more widely used, not just in large cities but even in smaller communities.
Its performance might establish a standard for mass-market EVs in the future, particularly those priced under ₹20 lakh. BaaS, great features, and good range options demonstrate how EV manufacturers can strike a balance between affordability, convenience, and performance to draw in a large audience.
