2026 Kia Seltos Spotted in India: A New Competitor to Sierra and Creta

With a wider body, updated appearance, and a more upscale interior, the impending 2026 Kia Seltos represents a significant evolution for the brand in India. Significant design improvements and the potential for additional engine options, such as a hybrid arrangement and an upgraded automatic transmission, are revealed by spy photos. The next-generation Seltos is expected to be a more formidable rival in the quickly expanding midsize SUV market thanks to advancements in suspension, safety technology, and general refinement.

  • Testing of the impending 2026 Kia Seltos in India has shown significant technological and design changes.

  • Its larger size, improved technology, and perhaps new engine and suspension options are important aspects.

The next-generation Seltos (codenamed SP3i) is clearly larger than the current model, according to photos of test cars that are being driven across India. The SUV has a stronger road presence because of its more upright, boxy appearance and flat body panels. Chunkier bumpers, a connected LED light bar, and vertical LED DRLs are examples of design elements.

Interior Renovation and Technological Advancement

The interior of the new Seltos is anticipated to have a completely redesigned dashboard with improved upholstery and a new control panel. According to reports, Kia might include a curved dual-screen configuration for the digital cluster and infotainment, just like other high-end vehicles.

Additionally, the test mules suggest more sophisticated connectivity choices, which could improve convenience and safety features.

Versatility Ahead, Powertrain Options

Kia appears prepared to stick with its tried-and-true 1.5-liter engine options, which include diesel, turbocharged petrol, and naturally aspirated petrol. The potential addition of a 7-speed automatic transmission to replace the current 6-speed AT is a noteworthy improvement for the diesel version.

In addition to traditional engines, there is a lot of conjecture on a hybrid drivetrain. It is anticipated that the hybrid model will have a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, generating about 141 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque.

Safety & Suspension

Evidence of independent rear suspension, which differs from the current generation's arrangement, is one of the more intriguing discoveries from the spy photos. This implies that Kia might improve ride comfort across the lineup or provide an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, at least in some countries.

A Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) package could be added to the new Seltos, improving the safety credentials of the present model.

When Will Indian Roads Be Affected?

The 2026 Seltos will make its world premiere on December 10, 2025, in South Korea, according to Kia. The Indian launch is thus anticipated to occur in early 2026.

Competition Scenery

The new Seltos is preparing to fight in India's highly competitive midsize SUV market with its improved design and technology. The Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and other vehicles are among its competitors.
