The Mercedes-Benz V-Class will make a comeback to India on March 3, 2026

On March 3, 2026, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class will formally return to the Indian market. The luxury MPV, which was terminated in 2022, is back with a new look, a roomy cabin, and high-end equipment that will appeal to chauffeur-driven consumers, families, and business travelers. The new V-Class seeks to provide consumers with a flexible, upscale mobility experience while competing confidently in India's expanding premium MPV market with its sophisticated comfort, cutting-edge technology, and commanding road presence.

  • On March 3, 2026, a brand-new Mercedes-Benz V-Class luxury MPV is scheduled to debut in India.

  • After being retired in 2022, this model is back with luxury space, a diesel drivetrain, and fierce competition in its market.

Mercedes-Benz has formally announced that the V-Class, a premium people-mover that was discontinued in 2022, will make its debut in India on March 3, 2026.

In India, the MPV market is expanding as wealthy consumers want more roomy and comfortable cars for family or chauffeur-driven travel. Mercedes-Benz's intention to fortify its position in this specialized but growing sector is reflected in the return of the V-Class.

Interior Comfort and Design

With updated style and a more upscale appearance than its predecessor, the most recent V-Class model was introduced globally in 2023. The design includes sporty alloy wheels, a wider, more elegant grille, and sharper LED headlamps while keeping the slab-sided MPV appearance.

The inside of the cabin prioritizes comfort with two 12.3-inch panels for entertainment and instruments, as well as an intuitive, high-end arrangement.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed which versions would be available in India, although there are a variety of seating arrangements available overseas, ranging from eight seats to an executive-oriented six-seat layout with individual captain chairs.

Expected Features and Powertrain

The V-Class overseas is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine available in two tune states, while official Indian specifications are still pending. These come in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations and generate approximately 163 horsepower with 380 Nm of torque or 237 horsepower with 500 Nm when mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Which of these choices Mercedes-Benz will provide in India has not yet been confirmed. Although the EQV, an all-electric variant, is available abroad, its arrival is not anticipated here.

Competition and Market Position

The new V-Class will compete with high-end competitors in India's luxury MPV market and is anticipated to cost more than ₹1 crore (ex-showroom). The Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM, and the future MG M9 are competitors, each of which offers a unique perspective on luxury and comfort.

The V-Class's anticipated diesel drivetrain, in contrast to many of its competitors, may help it stand out in a market that is becoming more and more dominated by hybrid and electric cars.
