Hyundai i20 Price Drop: New Base Model with Six Airbags Included at ₹5.99 Lakh

In order to make the popular hatchback more accessible to a wider audience, Hyundai has updated the i20 lineup by reintroducing a more cheap entry-level variant priced at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the update makes six airbags standard on all trim levels, greatly increasing safety without sacrificing necessary features. The updated range strives to provide better value and more appeal in the competitive premium hatchback sector with features including a digital instrument cluster, Type-C USB connections, and improved external elements.

  • The base variant of Hyundai's well-liked i20 hatchback now starts at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • Even the entry-level model now comes equipped with six airbags and other comfort amenities, increasing both safety and value.

Hyundai has formally changed the starting price of its i20 hatchback in India to ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the new entry-level Era model. This modification strengthens the i20's position against rivals like the Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz in terms of value, making it one of the more affordable premium hatchbacks available.

In order to ensure that the lower price does not equate to a bare-bones experience, the Era variation has a number of features that were previously seen on higher trims.

Features and Safety Are Included by Default

This upgrade has placed a strong emphasis on safety. All Hyundai i20 models now come equipped with six airbags as standard, a major improvement that enhances occupant protection.

Apart from the airbags, the Era trim also has a fully digital instrument cluster, Type-C USB charging, telescopic steering adjustment, body-coloured door handles and outside mirrors, and front and rear skid plates. These amenities make even the entry-level car feel luxurious.

The Magna Executive and Magna trims are now priced at approximately ₹6.74 lakh and ₹7 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively, for buyers looking for extra comforts.

Features that improve usability and convenience for daily driving are included in these versions, including LED DRLs, steering-mounted controls, electrically adjustable mirrors, automatic headlights, tyre pressure monitoring, keyless entry, an electric sunroof, rear air conditioning vents, and a front armrest.

How This Affects Buyers

Hyundai has lowered the starting price and standardized safety features like six airbags, making the i20 a more appealing option for consumers on a tight budget who don't want to forgo necessary equipment.

The i20 stands out in its competitive market because of its revised pricing and expanded feature set, as safety and technological features are becoming more and more important to consumers.

Overall, buyers' tastes in the premium hatchback market may change as a result of Hyundai's calculated approach, particularly for those who value affordability and safety.
