The new flagship seven-seat SUV is now available for pre-booking at ₹51,000.
Complete specs include a 2.0-liter engine, AWD, an enhanced safety system, and a tech-rich cabin.
Pre-bookings for Volkswagen India's newest premium SUV, the Tayron R-Line, are now open. Interested buyers can reserve the car online or through authorized dealerships in India for a nominal sum of ₹51,000.
As it gets ready for a February 2026 launch, the move signifies the German automaker's further foray into the luxury three-row SUV market.
Strong Performance and High-End Construction
The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine that powers the Tayron R-Line, which is based on Volkswagen's MQB EVO platform, generates about 204 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. This is combined with a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission to provide confident performance in both urban and rural traffic.
According to Volkswagen, the SUV has a top speed of 224 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 7.3 seconds.
The exterior of the Tayron R-Line is characterized by aggressive R-Line style characteristics, IQ. Its premium road presence is enhanced by illuminated Volkswagen emblems, 19-inch alloy wheels, and light HD Matrix LED headlights.
Feature-Rich, Technology-Driven Cabin
The Tayron R-Line has a convenient and comfortable cabin. A modern driving environment is created by an augmented reality head-up display, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, and a massive 15-inch infotainment touchscreen. 12-way motorized adjustment with memory, ventilation, and massage features are available on the front seats, and ambient lighting in a variety of colours provides a sophisticated vibe.
A 700-watt Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, a gesture-controlled tailgate, and wireless charging are other features that set the SUV apart from competitors in the large SUV market.
Using Advanced Driver Aids to Prioritize Safety
With nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill-ascent and descent control, and Level 2 ADAS that supports up to 14 driver aid systems, the Tayron R-Line prioritizes safety.
Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assistance, and autonomous emergency braking, technologies usually found in more costly premium SUVs, are among the advanced suite's capabilities.
Competitive Positioning and Future Prospects
The Tayron R-Line, which targets buyers seeking size, performance, and premium amenities without going into luxury brand territory, is anticipated to be priced between ₹48 and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom) and sits above Volkswagen's current SUV lineup.
In the quickly expanding premium SUV sector, it will compete with cars like the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq.
The VW Tayron R-Line, which is now accepting reservations and offers a powerful combination of performance, technology, and safety, is poised to leave a lasting impression when it hits Indian roads next month.
