How sales in January 2026 were dominated by Mahindra Scorpio.
Important statistics and patterns influencing the business's early-year performance.
Mahindra & Mahindra reported strong sales of all of its SUV models in January 2026, with the Scorpio family, which includes the Scorpio N and Classic, topping the rankings.
According to the business, the Scorpio was the most popular model in Mahindra's lineup for the month, with 15,442 units sold. With 14,863 diesels sold, demand for diesels was higher than that of gasoline, which was available in just 679 units.
Customers' ongoing need for tough, high-torque cars that can handle a variety of road conditions throughout India is reflected in the Scorpio range's notable preference for diesel.
A key component of Mahindra's reputation as a manufacturer of durable SUVs has been this trend.
Performance of the SUV Portfolio Beyond the Scorpio
Other SUVs from Mahindra's lineup also made significant contributions, even if the Scorpio was the leader. With 11,841 units sold in January, the Bolero came in second, followed by the recently released XUV 7XO, which sold 7,247 units during the same month.
These numbers demonstrate how Mahindra's wider SUV lineup continues to be a major factor in domestic retail performance. SUVs that balance affordability and functionality, such as the Scorpio and Bolero, continue to draw customers from both urban and rural areas.
January Sales Context for Mahindra's Broader
In January 2026, Mahindra achieved over 63,500 SUVs sold nationally, a 25% year-over-year gain over January of the previous year. This represented a significant boost in overall sales beyond individual model totals. All vehicle sales for the month exceeded 1,04,309 units, a robust 24% increase, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and exports.
New models like the XUV 7XO and XEV 9S, which together drew 93,689 bookings for over ₹20,500 crore in just four hours after bookings started in the middle of the month, contributed to this widespread increase.
