Long Wait Times for the 2026 Kia Seltos, XEV 9S, and Mahindra XUV 7XO Announced

The increased demand for recently released SUVs has led to long wait times for some of the most popular models in India. Depending on the model, the Mahindra XUV 7XO may see waits of up to a year. Meanwhile, the electric Mahindra XEV 9S also has lengthy wait times, particularly for its lower-spec trims. The redesigned 2026 Kia Seltos, meanwhile, has mild delays due to engine and colour selections. Since delivery schedules are getting longer, buyers are encouraged to make plans in advance.

  • The current wait times and their causes for Mahindra's popular XUV 7XO and electric XEV 9S.

  • How are delivery schedules for various models and variants of the recently released 2026 Kia Seltos going?

Waiting a Year for Some Variants of the Mahindra XUV 7XO

After reservations opened in mid-December 2025 and deliveries started on January 14, 2026, the recently redesigned Mahindra XUV 7XO swiftly rose to the top of the three-row SUV market in India. Wait times for its six trims vary greatly based on engine and feature levels due to the high demand.

It may take up to 12 months for the entry-level AX variation to reach consumers, whereas mid-range AX3 and AX5 trims usually have to wait roughly five months.

Wait times for higher-end models, such as the AX7 and AX7 Tech, are often shorter, ranging from 1 to 1.5 months.

In certain configurations, the most feature-rich trims can last up to six months. Mahindra claimed over 93,000 combined orders for the XUV 7XO and the electric XEV 9S on launch day, with a booking value of over ₹20,500 crore. This extended schedule is mostly the result of huge bookings.

Prolonged Lines for Electric Flavour in the Mahindra XEV 9S

Mahindra's electric flagship, the XEV 9S, has garnered a lot of interest in addition to the XUV 7XO. Bookings for this three-row EV commenced on January 14 and delivery started on January 23, 2026. It comes with a variety of battery packs and trim levels.

According to variant-wise insights, popular mid and base trims can take up to 5-9 months before delivery, especially for the smaller battery options, while top trims (like Pack Three and Pack Three Above) may see waits of about 3-4 months, even though official waiting lists are still being developed.

Weeks Instead of Months for the 2026 Kia Seltos

Similar to this, the new 2026 Kia Seltos, which was introduced in India on January 2, 2026, has attracted a lot of interest; in its first month of sales, over 10,000 units were sold. There are notably reduced wait times here than for the Mahindra SUVs.

According to dealer sources, normally aspirated and turbo-petrol Seltos models are routinely supplied in about 4–6 weeks, while diesel-powered cars often require a 6–8 week wait. The choice of colour also affects delivery schedules; popular hues like Glacier White Pearl and Aurora Black Pearl typically arrive sooner than less popular finishes.

How This Affects Buyers

The present wait times highlight India's thriving SUV sector, where buyers are embracing both conventional internal combustion and electric vehicles. This means that for ambitious buyers, arranging ahead of time and being adaptable with variety and colour might assist reduce delivery times.
