Sonet and New-Gen Seltos Drive Strong January Sales as Kia India Enters 2026

Kia India's January sales performance showed a remarkable increase, putting the company on a strong start to 2026. Strong demand for the Sonet and the recently redesigned Seltos, which both produced impressive year-over-year growth, contributed significantly to the brand's momentum, with over 27,000 units sold. A few models performed poorly, indicating opportunities for improvement, even if the majority of models helped to drive the increasing trend. All things considered, the month demonstrated Kia's growing dominance in India's very competitive SUV-focused market.

  • In January 2026, Kia India reported a robust 10% year-over-year growth, propelled by well-liked SUVs like the Sonet and the latest Seltos.

  • Sales of the tiny Syros fell precipitously, but demand for other models remained strong.

With total sales of 27,603 units in January 2026, Kia India claimed a 10% gain over the same month the previous year. Sales have increased from 25,025 units in January 2025, indicating sustained demand for the brand's goods and consistent expansion in a cutthroat industry.

Top-Performing Cars, SUVs Take the Lead

Kia's best-selling model was the Sonet small SUV, which sold 10,998 units in January 2026, a sharp increase from 7,194 units in January 2025. This impressive achievement demonstrates the Sonet's ongoing attraction to Indian consumers.

The latest Kia Seltos model, which added 10,639 units to the total sales, was not far behind. The revised Seltos saw a 64% year-over-year rise, indicating strong demand for the new model. In terms of shipments, it even surpassed the Tata Sierra in the first month.

Slower yet Consistent Growth in Other Areas

Together, the Kia Carens and Clavis models increased the total by 5,633 units, a slight 2% gain over the previous year. Compared to 293 units last year, 58 units of the larger people-carrier Carnival MPV were sent out.

Syros, An Unexpected Reduction

Only 275 Syros SUVs were sold in January 2026, which was a sharp contrast to the other models. This is the lineup's largest letdown, with a 95% decrease from 5,546 units in January 2025.

While the majority of Kia India's SUVs are still popular with consumers, the company's January sales results indicate that some of its smaller-segment products require more attention. Thanks primarily to the Sonet and the new Seltos, Kia has had a successful start to the year, solidifying its place as a major participant in India's SUV-driven industry.
