Prior to the all-new Cooper Convertible's December 2025 release, Mini India has begun accepting pre-launch reservations.
The convertible has a sporty engine, excellent interior elements, and an electrically powered soft-top.
Pre-launch reservations for the forthcoming Cooper Convertible have officially begun at Mini India. A car can be reserved by interested purchasers via Mini's website or any of its authorized dealerships.
To accompany the launch, the brand has established ten showrooms in major cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram, Pune, Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Chennai. The car is expected to debut in December 2025, though the exact date remains under wraps.
Features & Style
With circular LED headlights and an octagonal grille inspired by the Cooper S hatchback, the convertible keeps the traditional Mini design.
It boasts 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and black side-cladding on the wheel arches and doors.
In contrast to the hardtop version's triangle lights, it has rectangular LED taillamps with a Union Jack detailing on the back.
Even at up to 30 km/h, the convertible's electrically controlled soft top can open or close in just 18 seconds.
Comfort & Interior
The inside has a simple, circular shape that is similar to that of the hatchback model.
The infotainment system and instrument cluster are located on a 9.4-inch Android-powered OLED touchscreen.
In addition, the vehicle has an automated temperature control system, wireless charging, ambient lighting, motorized front seats, a head-up display, and an anticipated Harman Kardon audio system.
Powertrain & Performance
The Cooper S and the Convertible share a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine under the hood.
It has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and produces 204 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.
The convertible body's 0–100 km/h time is roughly 6.9 seconds, which is slightly slower than the hardtop due to the additional structural strength needed for it.
Cost and Positioning
The anticipated starting price for the Cooper Convertible in India is approximately ₹ 50 lakh (ex-showroom); however, Mini has not formally announced the booking cost.
In contrast, the latest Cooper S hardtop is priced at ₹43.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
Other open-top cars in India are either electric or more costly, so the convertible has no direct competitors at its anticipated price point.
Why Does It Matter
The Cooper Convertible offers modern performance and style, bringing Mini's renowned fun-to-drive experience to India for vehicle lovers who enjoy open-top driving. It is a desirable addition to Mini's India lineup due to its powerful engine and fast-operating roof, which appeal to both lifestyle customers and those who appreciate high-speed driving.
