Mahindra Thar 2WD Variant Launched: Here's Everything You Need To Know Mahindra has finally launched the much-awaited 2WD variant of the Thar. The new variant will be the entry-level model in the Thar range and will come with the smaller 1.5 liter diesel engine. It will have a few minor tweaks, such as the absence of the 4x4 badge on the rear fender and an additional cubby hole in place of the 4x4 lever. The rest of the equipment list is expected to remain unchanged. Mahindra Thar 2WD: What's New? The Mahindra Thar 2WD will be available in two variants: LX and EX. The LX variant will come with standard features such as steel wheels, manual air conditioning, and a basic sound system. The EX variant will get additional features such as alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and a touchscreen infotainment system. Mahindra Thar 2WD: Engine and Performance The Mahindra Thar 2WD will be powered by the same 1.5 liter diesel engine that powers the lower variants of the 4WD Thar. The engine produces 110 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra Thar 2WD: Price The Mahindra Thar 2WD is priced from ?12.10 lakh to ?13.05 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra Scorpio-N Gets Optional Safety Features Mahindra has also updated lower variants of the Scorpio-N with optional safety features. Electronic stability control, hill start assist, and hill descent control are now available as options on the base Scorpio-N and Z2 and Z4 manual variants for an additional ?50,000. The Z4 automatic variant gets these features as standard. The update comes after the Scorpio-N received a full 5-star rating in a recent crash test. Global NCAP mandates electronic stability control as a compulsory safety feature across variants to secure a five-star rating, and all variants must be updated with these features within 5 months of the crash test. Mahindra Scorpio-N: Optional Safety Features The optional safety features available on the Mahindra Scorpio-N include: � Electronic stability control � Hill start assist � Hill descent control Mahindra Scorpio-N: Price The Mahindra Scorpio-N is priced from ?11.99 lakh to ?24.05 lakh (ex-showroom). Overall, the Mahindra Thar 2WD is a welcome addition to the Thar range. It makes the Thar more accessible to a wider range of buyers. The updated Mahindra Scorpio-N is also a good move, as it makes the SUV safer.
