Kia Carens Clavis EV Set for July 2025 Launch in India

Kia India is set to introduce the Carens Clavis EV, its first locally developed electric vehicle, in July 2025, featuring advanced technology and design tailored for Indian consumers.

Kia, the leading South Korean brand, is unstoppable! From selling a domestic volume of 22,315 last month to rising 14.43% from their previous sales, i.e., 19,500 units during May last year.

With the impeccable sales data, Kia is ready to launch another boom, the Electric version of the Kia Carens Clavis, by next month only. Let’s see what we can expect from this launch.

Design and Styling

The Carens Clavis EV will adopt Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy, mirroring the styling cues of the recently unveiled ICE Carens Clavis.

We expect features like a flat front nose with connected LED light bars, tri-beam LED headlights, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, and connected LED tail lights.

Additionally, a few unique EV-specific elements, such as aero wheels and active air flap, are anticipated to enhance aerodynamics and efficiency.

Step Inside: Comfort Meets Cutting-Edge Tech

Prepare to be impressed by the interior of the Clavis EV, which is expected to mirror the premium layout of its ICE counterpart, where comfort is paramount, with a semi-powered driver’s seat and ventilated front seats.

At the heart of the cabin lies a large touchscreen infotainment system, offering seamless support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A fully digital instrument cluster provides crystal-clear, EV-specific readouts.

When it comes to safety, they are top-notch. Level-2 ADAS features come standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking, offering an extra layer of confidence on the road.

Powertrain, Performance, and Pricing

The Carens Clavis EV is likely to share its platform and powertrain with the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric. Anticipated specifications include:

  • Battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh

  • Electric motor outputs: 135PS and 171PS

These configurations are expected to offer a balance between performance and range, catering to the needs of urban and suburban commuters.

The pricing is projected to start from around ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it competitively in the burgeoning electric MPV and crossover SUV segments. It’s set to rival upcoming electric vehicles like the MG Hector EV, Tata Sierra EV, and the future Mahindra EV9.

Overall, by introducing the Carens Clavis EV, Kia aims to strengthen its presence in the growing Indian EV market. Positioned as a premium offering, the Clavis EV will complement Kia's existing lineup, providing consumers with an eco-friendly alternative without compromising on features or comfort.
