The South Africa-spec car is a preview of what will arrive in India in early 2026 in terms of the overall package, but should have a few more features since Renault is planning to target a certain positioning with this car.
The Duster silhouette has been carried forward but with a new face, wheels, and light package. Let’s have a look at what they are.
List of Features
Interior design-wise, the cabin is one to recognize, as most of Renault's usuals find their way into this fresh Duster. In South Africa, range-topping Intens models receive options such as double digital screens, rear AC vented climate control, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, powered front seats, USB-C charging ports, power windows and mirrors, and a full LED lighting package.
For India, we anticipate Renault to include a sunroof, connected car tech, and ambient lighting in the India-spec package.
Powertrain
There are two engines available: a 1.2-litre, mild-hybrid turbo petrol and the same old 1.3-litre turbo petrol that used to power the previous generation of the Duster that was sold in India until 2021. Renault is expected to sell both engine options in India in MT and AT format.
Role in the Indian Future of Renault
This new Duster, along with its seven-seater sibling (most likely to be named the Bigster), will be a cornerstone for Renault India's future. With buyers of cars turning their attention to the premium end of the C-segment and the D-segment, Renault is keen to be present in the right location, at the right moment. It is officially announced that this new Duster will be brought to India in 2026.
Conclusion
The third-generation Renault Duster is a huge leap in the direction for the brand, combining popular design cues with fresh styling, better interiors, and better tech. While the South African version paves the way, the India-bound vehicle should come with more features that are poised to address the market's changing needs. With two petrol powertrains and a strategic emphasis on premium segments, the new Duster, and its soon-to-be-launched seven-seater sibling, are poised to drive Renault's growth in India. As the countdown begins for its 2026 launch, the Duster is ready to reclaim its position as a serious player in the SUV space.
