MG Comet EV receives a MY2025 Update

The New MY 2025 Comet EV gets tons of new features which include a rear parking camera and electrically foldable ORVMs and leatherette seats along with a significant Price Hike in the Batteries and overall models.

The MG Comet EV Blackstorm Edition was launched in February 2025 that added leatherette seat upholstery that was not present in the standard variants. The automaker has now added this to the standard variants of the Comet EV with its model year 2025 (MY25) update.

But that's not all as some additional updates have been added to the MG's cheapest electric offering.

The rates have also been increased up to Rs 27,000, the information of which is as follows:

VariantOld PricesNew PricesPrice Difference
ExecutiveRs 5 lakhRs 5 lakhNo Difference
ExciteRs 6.09 lakhRs 6.25 lakh+ Rs 16,000
Excite Fast ChargingRs 6.57 lakhRs 6.77 lakh+ Rs 20,000
ExclusiveRs 7.13 lakhRs 7.35 lakh+ Rs 22,000
Exclusive Fast ChargingRs 7.50 lakhRs 7.77 lakh+ Rs 27,000
100-Year Limited EditionRs 7.66 lakh–Discontinued
Blackstorm EditionRs 7.80 lakhRs 7.80 lakhNo Difference

The battery subscription plan effectively lowers the initial price of the Comet EV since you buy the EV minus the battery pack. But taking this plan means you will have to pay a subscription fee of Rs 2.5 for each km traveled.

More Information on MG Comet

Though the MG Comet continues to be on offer in three broad trims: Executive, Excite and Exclusive, the feature split between the variants has undergone a reorganization. The update adds a rear parking camera and electrically foldable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) to the mid-spec Excite variant, both of which were previously available only with the top-of-the-line variant.

Additionally, the range-topping Exclusive trim now receives a white leatherette seat trim and 4-speaker audio system. Before the upgrade, the top-of-the-line model had fabric seat trim and standard 2-speaker sound system.

Features and Safety

In addition to the new 4-speaker audio system, the MG Comet EV is equipped with features such as dual 10.25-inch displays (one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation) and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. It also features a manual AC, electrically folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) and keyless entry.

Nothing has been altered in the safety package and the Comet EV retains its dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking camera and sensors. It also receives an electronic park brake, electronic stability control (ESC), all-disc brakes at the four corners, and hill-hold assist.

Battery Pack and other Powertrain Details

The MG Comet EV comes with a single battery pack option mated with a rear axle mounted electric motor, the details of which are as follows:

BBattery Pack17.4 kWh
NNo. Of Electric Motor(s)11
PPower42 PS
TTorque110 Nm
DDrivetrainRear-wheel-drive (RWD)
CClaimed Range (ARAI)230 km

Rivals of MG Comet

The MG Comet EV is rivalled by other entry-level EVs such as the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 making it a highly competitive and profitable car business.

Conclusion

The MY2025 update to the MG Comet EV introduces significant feature additions to its variants while raising prices by up to ₹27,000. The introduction of premium features such as a rear parking camera, electrically foldable outer rearview mirrors, and leatherette seats adds to the overall value proposition of MG's base electric car. Even with the price increase, the Comet EV remains a competitive product in the mass-market EV segment, competing against competitors such as the Tata Tiago EV and Citroën eC3. With its updated feature list and adaptable battery subscription plan, the MG Comet EV is still a practical and fashionable urban mobility option.
