Hyundai has unveiled its long-awaited electric SUV under the name of Hyundai Elexio (in the form of a joint venture with BAIC). The Elexio is Hyundai's latest vehicle under the Beijing Hyundai joint venture and is aimed at the fast-growing Chinese market of EVs. Though originally targeted to be in China, the Elexio can also be opened to the markets worldwide, depending on the market reception.
Minimalist Cabin and a futuristic Touch-screen Controls
The cabin is one of the most impressive features of Elexio. The dashboard moves away from the traditional designs and it is surrounded by a huge panoramic touchscreen with all the functions being integrated into the controls.
Physical buttons are completely absent, save those that surround the steering wheel, with the theme of a clean, digital-forward interior dominating.
The MID (multi-information display) is a small area of the screen and a system of projection display enhances the experience that is tech-loaded. The wireless charging pad, four open cup holders and other storage compartments can be found in the elevated center console.
Hyundai has crammed 29 cleverly stored rooms that can be easily found even under the armrest and could even include cooling in higher editions.
Exterior Design: Sleek Yet Rugged
Design elements feature Hyundai trademark pixelated four-point LED DRLs, full-width light bar and coupe-like long roofline. Its futuristic, aerodynamic look is made up of squared wheel arches, flush door handles, and a wide stance.
The SUV is integrated with pixel-style LED tail lights and the statement of the brand on its backside, which states the name of the brand as ELEXIO.
In terms of dimension, the Elexio is similar to the Hyundai Tucson, with the length of the Elexio being 4,615mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase.
Performance, Powertrain, and Range
As an 800V-architecture product built on the Hyundai E-GMP platform, the Elexio can be had in two variants: a front-wheel-drive, single motor (218 PS), and dual-motor (317 PS) AWD.
The stated CLTC range is 700 km, whereas the actual range of vehicles should be 500-550 km. The EV is expected to roll out in China in 2025.
The Hyundai Elexio, with its tech-loaded features, elegant design, and reasonable performance, has the ability to become a serious player in the higher-end electric SUV market segment.
