The Honda City facelift has been spotted in undisguised form, confirming a redesigned front fascia ahead of its official 22 May 2026 India launch.
The update brings a wider mesh grille, sleeker LED headlamps, repositioned Honda badging, and new dual-tone alloy wheels to the popular mid-size sedan.
With barely a week to go before its official introduction, the updated Honda City has been spotted in fully undisguised form for the very first time.
Confirmed for launch in India on 22 May 2026, the facelifted sedan has appeared in a fresh set of images that lay bare a number of notable exterior changes, giving prospective buyers a clear sense of what Honda has been working on.
A Bolder Front End for a Familiar Favourite
The most significant changes are concentrated at the front of the car. The new City gets a wider and more prominent grille finished in a mesh pattern design, lending the sedan a considerably bolder stance than the model it replaces.
Flanking the grille are sleeker LED headlamps, while the front bumper has also been reworked, with the fog lamps now sitting lower within triangular housing elements.
One of the more quietly significant changes is the relocation of the Honda badge, which now sits on the bonnet rather than being integrated into the grille as before.
Although only the front profile is visible in the latest images, the updated City also appears to feature new dual-tone alloy wheels. Revisions to the rear are expected as well, with the car likely receiving updated tail lamps and a tweaked bumper to round off the refreshed appearance. Overall body dimensions are not expected to change.
Feature Additions and Cabin Updates Expected
Interior details remain limited for now, though Honda is expected to introduce a range of cabin revisions alongside the exterior changes.
A 360-degree camera system appears likely, hinted at by what seems to be a front-facing camera module built into the redesigned bumper. New interior colour options and a revised ADAS suite are also anticipated, helping to reinforce the City's credentials as a thoroughly equipped family sedan.
The Familiar Petrol Engine Carries Over
No mechanical changes are on the cards for the facelift. The City is expected to continue with its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
Whether the City e:HEV hybrid variant will be updated simultaneously or arrive at a later stage has not yet been confirmed.
A Fresher City Takes Aim at a Competitive Segment
The updated City returns to a mid-size sedan market that has only grown more fiercely contested in recent years. It will line up against the recently refreshed Hyundai Verna, as well as the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, both of which are expected to receive updates in the near future.
Honda will be counting on this facelift to bring renewed interest to a nameplate that has been a staple of Indian roads for over two decades.
