As General Motors introduces its fully electric pickup truck, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, also known as the Hummer EV SUT, appears to be a hallmark effort to move its automobiles away from gas and diesel.
The gas-guzzling Hummer brand, initially retired in 2010, will reappear in 2022 as an all-electric GMC sub-brand. Following the revival of the Hummer as a pickup truck, an SUV will be introduced.
Efficiency, Performance, EV Engine
The new truck's highest engine choice, which has three electric motors and can produce up to 1000 horsepower, has an estimated range of 329 miles between charges and a reported acceleration time of 3.0 seconds to 60 mph. According to GM, the GMC Hummer EV can keep range anxiety at bay because its fully charged battery can deliver a range of more than 350 miles.
Additionally, GMC says that this power plant will produce 11,500 lb-ft of torque, which can be calculated owing to the torque-multiplying effect of the truck's gear ratios. According to GMC sources, the exact torque value will fall between 1000 and 1100 lb-ft.
An EV's performance also includes the ability to charge a battery of this size. The Hummer EV's dual-layer battery pack may be temporarily joined as two packs in series ( usually parallel), allowing 800-volt DC fast-charging on 350-kW connections to offer over 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.
Because of the massive size of the battery pack, you will have to wait significantly longer on a slower 50-kW or 150-kW connection. The Hummer EV features an inbuilt charger for up to 11.5 kilowatts, allowing for a complete charge in less than 20 hours. A full charge on a 120V standard outlet might take over a week.
EV Hummer Specifications
The Hummer EV SUV's inside looks like a mix of tough and modern design elements. Available models of the Hummer EV include the truck and SUV. In any event, the Hummer EV's interior is still rather capacious. The Hummer EV measures over 87 inches wide and 217 inches long. GM created the Hummer EV as a heavy-duty vehicle with enough space to accommodate a large twin battery pack with a range of more than 300 miles inside the frame rails. The Hummer has a seating capacity of five people. One can sit in sturdy yet comfy chairs inside the Hummer EV at a very high height. The Hummer EV SUV also features several physical and hard controls, such as a large T-shaped gearshift and a rotary drive-mode selection on the dashboard.
Exterior Features
The Hummer EV has wheels that are 18" x 9" black aluminium with machined accents, an illuminated trunk with storage for Infinity Roof Sky Panels, four cargo tie-downs that can hold 110 lbs., roof accessory points in the front, middle, and rear, an Infinity Roof with modular transparent Sky Panels, walk-up and departure animation, charge status, and turn signals are all included in the front lighting and more.
Warranty
The Hummer EV, like other General Motors vehicles, comes with a warranty that covers the powertrain for five years and 60,000 miles and bumper to bumper for three years and 36,000 miles.
Price
The Hummer EV SUV First Editions will start arriving at GMC dealerships in 2023. GMC has revealed the pricing and is currently accepting orders for the Hummer EV SUV, even though it won't be available for purchase for a few more years.
