Ford India to bring back Endeavour in 2025

Ford India to bring back Endeavour in 2025

Ford India seems to be planning a comeback of the Endeavour SUV in 2025. They've filed a patent in India for the design of the current generation Endeavour, which is known as the Ford Everest in other markets. This latest generation, launched in 2022 elsewhere, didn't make it to India initially.

There's speculation that Ford might bring the new Endeavour to India sooner than 2025. They're considering assembling it at their Chennai factory or potentially importing it directly. Importing fully-built cars without meeting certain local requirements is still allowed, allowing Ford to potentially import up to 2,500 units per year. This move might help them introduce the new Endeavour earlier while preparing for local assembly by 2025. Additionally, due to the soaring prices of its main rival, the Toyota Fortuner, an imported Endeavour could still be competitive in pricing.

Ford had earlier considered selling direct imports to maintain a presence in the Indian market. They initially planned to sell their Chennai plant but later decided to hold onto it, indicating a potential restart of operations. This facility previously produced the older Endeavour, so retooling it for the new model might be comparatively easier. Ford kept some service operations running even after halting sales in India, unlike General Motors, which exited the market completely.

Exterior Design Highlights

Regarding the new Ford Endeavour's design, it continues to share its platform with the Ranger pickup, boasting a robust ladder-frame structure. The SUV's exterior presents a more squared-off look with a prominent grille, Matrix LED headlights, and distinct LED tail-lights. Inside, the cabin features a modern dashboard with a sizable touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, equipped with the latest SYNC infotainment software.

Safety and Tech

In terms of safety and technology, the new Ford SUV includes nine airbags, hands-free parking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and Pre-Collision Assist with Intersection Assist for added safety features.

Powertrain Details

Under the hood, the new Endeavour offers engine options including two 2.0-litre turbo-diesel variants and a new 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, similar to the new Ranger. The transmission options consist of a 6-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic, depending on the engine, with some markets also having a 2WD setup available.

In essence, Ford appears to be gearing up for the return of the Endeavour SUV to India. With potential plans for both import and local assembly, the new Endeavour brings modern design, advanced technology, and various engine options to cater to the Indian market's demands.
