Everything About The Newly Launched Fourth Gen Mini Cooper And Cooper S

Everything about the newly launched Fourth-gen Mini Cooper and Cooper S

Mini has introduced the fourth generation of the Cooper and Cooper S globally, signaling the culmination of the sporty 3-door hatchbacks powered by internal combustion engines (ICE). Future Cooper models will exclusively come in fully electric forms. The Cooper, first launched in 1959 and re-introduced in 2000, serves as Mini's primary offering and is expected to hit the Indian market later this year. The fourth-gen Cooper range includes a 5-door variant, a soft-top convertible, and a John Cooper Works version.

Fourth-gen Mini Cooper S: Exterior Design

Remaining true to its iconic appeal, the fourth-gen Cooper maintains its sporty, cab-forward stance, oval-shaped headlamps with LED DRLs, hexagonal front grille, door-mounted ORVMs, and flat roofline. Subtle updates include blacked-out inserts for the grille and air intake, new triangular LED taillamps with the Union Jack impression, fresh dual-tone, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and tweaked front and rear bumpers. The sportier S trim is distinguished by an 'S' imprint on the nose.

Fourth-gen Mini Cooper S: Interiors & Features

The interior retains the minimalist theme, featuring a two-tone dashboard and a prominent 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen at the center. The drive selector, climate control, start/stop button, and other controls are housed within the toggle bar beneath the central screen. Notably, there's no traditional instrument panel. Additional features include LED Matrix headlights, a heads-up display, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and brake assist.

Fourth-gen Mini Cooper S: Powertrain Options

The global offering includes two powertrain options. The entry-level Cooper C is equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 154 bhp and 230 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.7 seconds. The Cooper S boasts a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol unit generating 201 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds. Both engines come with automatic transmissions and feature a suspension and damping system designed for agile handling.

The fourth-gen Mini Cooper and Cooper S embody a blend of classic design elements and modern features, emphasizing a transition toward fully electric offerings in the brand's future lineup.
