Electric Cars Under Rs. 10 Lakhs

In the sub-10 lakh INR electric vehicle (EV) segment in India, the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV are options. The Tiago offers two battery options with ranges of 250 km and 315 km, while the Comet EV has a 230 km range. Both EVs have various features and are suitable for city commuting.

If you want to stay strict on the budget without spending more than Rs. 10 lakhs, you will have two choices: The Tata Tigor EV and the MG Comet EV. Currently, the Tata Tigor EV and the MG Comet EV are the only EV options under Rs. 10 lakhs in India; however, newer models are expected to be released with this price tag soon.

Tata Motors introduced the Tiago EV in September 2022 in India. The four version choices for the Tata Tiago EV are XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Tech Lux.

  • Depending on the configuration chosen, the Tata Tiago EV costs between Rs. 8.69 lakhs and Rs. 12.04 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

  • The Tata Tigor EV is offered in three colours: Magnetic Red, Signature Teal Blue, and Daytona Grey.

  • The Tigor EV has a wheelbase of 2 450 mm, a length of 3 993 mm, a width of 1,677 mm, and five seats.

Battery

Two battery packs, rated at 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh, with stated ranges of 250 km and 315 km, respectively, power this EV. While the latter generates 74 bhp/114 Nm, the former generates 60 bhp/110 Nm.

Drive farther with the 24 kWh or 19.2 kWh battery pack, which offers a MIDC range of 315 km / 250 km. The automatic gearbox is the only option.

Charging

Options for charging include a 15A plug, a 3.3kW charger, a 7.2kW AC fast charger, and a DC fast charger.

  • Thanks to its 7.2kW AC Home Wallbox Charger, you can effortlessly charge it at home.

  • For medium and long ranges, respectively, SOC 10% - 100% in 2.6 and 3.6 hours.

  • On the other hand, DC Fast Charging is an alternative to on-the-go charging. SOC is 10% - 100% in 58 minutes for both medium and long-range.

  • Additionally, there is a 15A portable charger that allows for charging anywhere. SOC 10%–100% in 8.7 hours for the long-range and 6.9 hours for the medium-range.

Exterior

The blanked-off grille with the unique tri-arrow pattern on both ends dominates the Tiago EV's fascia. The electric hatchback has electric-blue inlays and the EV emblem on the grille to set it apart from the standard variant. The side profile is further highlighted by the new dual-tone alloy wheel design.

Additional features are:

  • Projector headlamps

  • Door handles with a black piano strip

  • Chrome inner door handle

Interior

The air vents and digital instrument cluster each have electric blue accents, just like the exterior. The Tiago EV has a 17.78 cm touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, as well as flat-bottom steering wheels with mounted controls.

  • The Comet EV has three versions: Pace, Play, and Plush.

  • The MG Comet EV has five distinct colour options: Candy White With Starry Black, Apple Green With Starry Black, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, and Candy White.

  • The Comet EV is 2,974 mm long, 1,505 mm wide, 1,640 mm tall, and weighs 815 kg at the curb.

Battery

A motor that generates 41 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque is coupled with a 17.3 kWh battery pack to power the MG Comet EV. The model claims to have a range of 230 km on a single full charge.

It comes with an 8-year battery warranty or 1.2 lakh km and an IP67-rated battery that is water- and dust-resistant and has passed 16 safety tests. The transmission type is automatic.

Charging

This electric vehicle receives a Type 2 Charger Connection Type with an estimated 3.3 kW Charge in 7 hours (0-100%) and an estimated 3.3 kW Charge in 5 hours (10-80%). The single charge has a 230 km range.

Exterior

This EV from MG has a stylish exterior thanks to its 2-door form; turn indicators set horizontally on the grille, and an illuminated MG emblem. The following are additional features of the Comet EV:
