Buying the Hyundai Aura? Here are Five Things You Need to Know

If you're considering the Hyundai Aura, here are five essential points to consider. Firstly, its stylish design and feature-rich interior make it a standout choice. Secondly, the Aura offers a range of engine options catering to diverse preferences, from fuel efficiency to performance. Thirdly, Hyundai's commitment to safety is evident with advanced safety features. Fourthly, the spacious and comfortable cabin ensures a pleasant driving experience. Lastly, the Aura's competitive pricing adds to its appeal, making it a compelling option in the compact sedan segment.

Hyundai Aura

Hyundai is here to capture the compact sedan segment with the new Aura launched in 2020. The Aura is the 2nd generation model of the popular Hyundai Xcent. Excelling in performance and with a premium interior, the Aura provides stiff competition to the likes of the Maruti Dzire and the Honda Amaze.

The Hyundai Aura is a compact sedan that is designed to offer a comfortable and efficient driving experience. Here is a guide with five things that you should know before buying the Hyundai Aura.

Engine & Gearbox Options

Hyundai cars are known for their smooth engines and effortless transmission. These are the options they offer on the Aura:

  • The Hyundai Aura comes with multiple engine options to choose from, a 1.2-litre petrol engine, a 1.2-litre diesel engine, and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine produces 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, on the other hand, produces 99 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful option available.
  • There are two gearbox options - a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT available for both petrol and diesel models. The Aura Turbo petrol, however, comes only with the manual gearbox.
  • The fuel tank capacity is 37 litres.

    Fuel Efficiency & Driving Performance

Hyundai Aura is designed to be fuel efficient and a joy to drive. Let's look at a few specifics:

  • The Hyundai Aura is designed to offer good fuel efficiency across all engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine offers a claimed mileage of 20.5 kpl, while the diesel engine offers a claimed mileage of 25.35 kpl. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, despite being the most powerful option, still manages to offer a decent mileage of 20.5 kpl. These are claimed figures and might vary in real-world conditions.
  • The Hyundai Aura is easy to drive and the steering controls feel light to use. You will find the engines responds well in the bottom and mid-range. However, the engine will feel strained near its redline at around 4000 rpm.

Features

The latest version of the Aura has received upgrades from the features perspective. There are many useful features that provide this car a premium feel:

  • The Hyundai Aura is available in 5 variants and is loaded with features, making it a great value-for-money proposition. There are multiple features including some segment-leading ones:
    • An 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
    • Automatic climate control
    • Keyless entry
    • Push-button start
    • Wireless phone charger
    • Cruise control
    • A 5.3-inch MID screen for driver information.
  • A dual-tone cabin made of high-quality materials that make it feel premium. The overall fit and finish are also impressive.
  • The Hyundai Aura also comes with advanced safety features such as dual channel ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, and a reverse parking camera.

Cabin Space

The Aura Turbo Petrol offers a spacious cabin that can comfortably accommodate five passengers. You will find ample legroom in the rear seats which can comfortably seat three passengers.

  • There are adjustable headrests for rear seat passengers. But there is no fixed headrest for the middle passenger.
  • Tall passengers will also find the headroom quite comfortable and there are rear AC vents too.
  • The boot capacity is 402 litres. This is adequate for a compact sedan. However, the loading lip is a bit high.

Competitors

The Hyundai Aura faces stiff competition from other compact sedans such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the best-selling car in the segment, offering good fuel efficiency, features, and reliability. The Honda Amaze is also a popular option, offering a spacious cabin, comfortable ride, and advanced safety features.

Compared to its competitors, you will find Hyundai Aura the best in terms of engine performance, practicality, and value for money.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Aura is a great option if you are looking for a compact sedan with a powerful and efficient engine. Its feature-rich interior, spacious cabin, and safety features make it an ideal choice for daily commuting and long journeys.

Although there are some drawbacks such as the limited rear visibility and stiff ride quality, the benefits outweigh them.
