BMW India (brand alone) sold 4,354 units in Q1 2026, a 15.67 percent year-on-year rise, while EV volumes surged 83.15 percent over the same period.
India's luxury EV market reached an all-time high of 5,404 units in FY2026, with BMW commanding a 65.45 percent share of the segment.
BMW brand alone delivered 4,354 cars in Q1 2026 (January to March), growing 15.67 percent year-on-year from 3,764 units. Combined with MINI's 213 units, up an impressive 42 percent, total BMW Group car sales for the quarter stood at 4,567 units, a 16.68 percent rise over the 3,914 units recorded in Q1 2025.
The breakdown between powertrains tells the more interesting story. EV sales reached 1,185 units, surging 83.15 percent year-on-year from 647 units.
ICE vehicles, by contrast, grew just 3.52 percent to 3,382 units. In short, BMW's incremental growth is almost entirely electric in origin. EVs now account for 26 percent of total car sales, meaning one in every four BMWs sold in India today leaves the showroom without a combustion engine.

Long Wheelbase models contributed 2,256 units, growing 23 percent and comprising over half of all deliveries. Models such as the iX1 Long Wheelbase have been particularly significant, serving as the top-selling luxury EV in the country.

What Lies Ahead, 27 Products and 19 New Showrooms
BMW Group India has outlined an ambitious product plan for 2026, with 27 launches scheduled across BMW, MINI, and Motorrad. Four have already been unveiled in Q1, including the BMW M2 CS and X3 30. The company also plans to add 19 outlets across 18 new cities, taking its total retail footprint to 116 touchpoints.
With over 6,000 charging points already in place nationwide, the infrastructure to support continued EV growth is clearly being built in parallel with the products themselves.
