In a groundbreaking move to enhance traffic management in the city, Bengaluru Police has introduced the Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Traffic Management app, commonly known as ASTraM. Launched during the ongoing Road Safety Awareness Week, this innovative app aims to revolutionize traffic control by providing real-time data on congestion, safety conditions, and more. ASTraM allows officials to track live congestion updates every 15 minutes, sending alerts to on-site officers and stakeholders for effective traffic planning.
The app features dashboard analytics presenting traffic volume, vehicle count, vehicle types, and road conditions across the city, aiding in predictive congestion analysis due to route diversions. ASTraM utilizes a reporting bot for field incidents, facilitating real-time information sharing with map services for public awareness. Notably, the app includes a unique feature to monitor ambulance movements, ensuring timely responses. The control room tracks ambulance routes, sends alerts if they face delays, and suggests the shortest routes.
To further enhance surveillance, Bengaluru Traffic Police has deployed 10 drone cameras to monitor traffic conditions during peak hours. ASTraM stands as a technological milestone in traffic management, marking a significant stride towards a more sustainable and efficient urban transportation system.
