Affordable SUVs with Premium Safety: 13 SUVs Under Rs 20 Lakh Equipped with ADAS Technology

As Indian car buyers place increasing importance on safety, carmakers have responded by bringing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to mass-market SUVs, making this technology accessible to a broader range of consumers. Once limited to luxury vehicles, ADAS is now found in several popular SUVs in India, with prices starting as low as Rs 12 lakh. ADAS not only elevates a vehicle's safety features but also enhances driver comfort by enabling certain autonomous driving capabilities through a system of cameras, sensors, and onboard computers that analyze the surroundings and assist in decision-making.

Let’s take a closer look at the 13 SUVs under Rs 20 lakh that come equipped with ADAS and the features they bring to the table.

Mahindra XUV300

The Mahindra XUV300 is the most budget-friendly SUV on the list with ADAS, priced from Rs 12.24 lakh for the AX5 Luxury variant. Its ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking (AEB), bringing a comprehensive safety package at an affordable price point.

Hyundai Venue

In 2023, Hyundai made headlines by introducing ADAS in the Venue, making it the first sub-4m SUV in India with this feature. Available in the top-spec SX (O) trim, starting from Rs 12.44 lakh, the Venue's ADAS includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning, and high-beam assist, although it lacks adaptive cruise control and AEB.

Hyundai Venue N Line

The sportier Hyundai Venue N Line also features the same ADAS technology as the standard Venue. This technology is included in the top-spec N8 trim, starting at Rs 12.96 lakh. Like the regular Venue, it offers forward collision warning and lane-keeping assist but does not include adaptive cruise control or AEB.

Kia Sonet

Kia's subcompact SUV, the Sonet, got a boost in safety features in 2024, with the GTX+ trim now offering ADAS from Rs 14.82 lakh. Its suite includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane departure warning, and high-beam assist.

Honda Elevate

The Honda Elevate brings ADAS in the range-topping ZX trim, priced at Rs 15.21 lakh. It includes a comprehensive ADAS package with collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and auto high-beam, catering to safety-conscious consumers.

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta, a popular compact SUV, includes ADAS starting from the SX Tech trim, priced at Rs 15.98 lakh. Its suite includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, safe exit warning, and adaptive cruise control, offering one of the most complete safety packages in this segment.

Mahindra Thar Roxx

The Thar Roxx, a new 5-door off-roading variant from Mahindra, also features ADAS. It includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Priced from Rs 16.99 lakh for the AX3L variant, it is the only off-roader on the list to come with ADAS.

MG Astor

The MG Astor was the pioneer in bringing ADAS to this segment, offering features like lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, AEB, and blind-spot detection. This package is available on the Savvy Pro variant, starting at Rs 17.22 lakh.

Tata Curvv

The Tata Curvv, an SUV-coupe offering, adds a unique style element along with ADAS, priced from Rs 17.50 lakh for the Accomplished+ A trim. The Curvv includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and AEB.

Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos, available from the GTX trim onwards at Rs 19.08 lakh, features ADAS with forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, leading vehicle departure alert, and high-beam assist, making it a robust safety offering in the compact SUV space.

Hyundai Creta N Line

The Creta N Line, a sportier iteration of the Creta, shares the same ADAS suite as the regular Creta. Available on the N10 trim, priced from Rs 19.34 lakh, it includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, safe exit warning, and adaptive cruise control.

Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai’s three-row Alcazar also received ADAS in its recent update. Offered on the higher-spec Platinum and Signature trims, priced from Rs 19.46 lakh, it includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane-following assist.

Mahindra XUV700

Rounding out the list is the Mahindra XUV700, available in the top-spec AX7 trim at Rs 19.49 lakh. It comes with AEB, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control, making it one of the most safety-equipped SUVs in its price range.

The Rising Appeal of ADAS

As the demand for advanced safety technology grows, these SUVs demonstrate that carmakers are listening and striving to make driving in India safer. While each ADAS suite offers unique features, the technology’s presence in sub-20 lakh SUVs reflects a shift towards mainstream safety innovation. ADAS may still be evolving, but with more vehicles offering it each year, the road ahead is set to be a safer one.
