A complete look at the exterior and interior changes, new features, powertrain details, and colour options of the 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift.
A breakdown of the seven-variant line-up, from the entry-level HX 2 to the fully loaded HX 10, to help buyers identify the right pick.
Hyundai has kept the Exter's familiar silhouette intact while giving it a noticeably bolder face. The front end gets a revised bumper and a larger grille, with the Exter branding repositioned for a cleaner look.
A new silver trim on the lower portion adds a touch of visual bulk, while the rear sees a new two-part spoiler, a revised bumper, and fresh C-pillar and tailgate garnish. The 15-inch alloy wheels also get a new design, and the wheel arch cladding is more pronounced than before, lending the car a slightly more rugged stance.
Eight Ways to Wear It
Hyundai has expanded the colour palette to eight options for the facelift, seven of which are monotone and one dual-tone. Two shades are entirely new: Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte.
The remaining options carry over as Titan Grey, Atlas White, Starry Night, Titanium Black, and Ranger Khaki. Buyers who want a two-tone finish will find just one choice available, Ranger Khaki paired with a black roof.
Inside, It Feels Noticeably More Upmarket
Step inside and the changes are immediately apparent. The cabin adopts a new dual-tone Navy Blue and Grey colour scheme across most variants, paired with new semi-fabric upholstery.
A flat-bottomed steering wheel makes its debut here, alongside a 3D carbon-pattern trim on the dashboard that gives the interior a sportier edge. Hyundai has also added a dedicated driver's armrest, a thoughtful addition that was sorely missed on the outgoing model.
Features Worth Noting
On the technology front, the facelift brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Type-C USB ports for rear passengers, and metal pedals on the top-spec variant. The fully loaded HX 10 gains Hyundai's Bluelink connected car technology with over 60 connected features, OTA map and infotainment updates, and an 8-inch HD audio and navigation system.
Safety credentials remain strong across the range, with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and hill hold control standard on every single variant.
Seven Variants, One Engine
The 2026 Exter is offered across seven trims, namely HX 2, HX 3, HX 4, HX 4 Plus, HX 6, HX 8, and HX 10. Powering the range is the familiar 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 83 hp and is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
A petrol-CNG version is also on offer, producing 69 hp in CNG mode and featuring Hyundai's dual-cylinder CNG storage technology. Notably, the Exter remains the only car in this segment to offer a four-cylinder engine, giving it a refinement advantage over its rivals.
Prices and Who It Competes With
Prices for the petrol manual range from Rs 5.80 lakh to Rs 8.36 lakh, while the AMT variants are priced between Rs 6.91 lakh and Rs 9.42 lakh. The petrol-CNG line-up starts at Rs 7 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.41 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The Exter continues to square up against the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3 in the micro-SUV space.
