Renault is all set to update its best-selling compact SUV, the Kiger, with a mid-life facelift that is due before Diwali 2025. The Kiger appeared first in 2021, a long time has passed since it got an update.
As competition in the segment heats up with the introduction of models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and the Maruti Brezza, Renault will want the Kiger to be more attractive with better styling and creature comforts.
Exterior: Sharper Design With Modern Touches
The front and rear facelifted Kiger will undoubtedly be updated as spy shots of the heavily camouflaged test mules show. The front bumper seems to be using a bigger central air opening, but the split head lamp package stays unchanged, although the DRLs and fog lamps are slightly redesigned. Be ready to find the new Renault logo at the grille that would match the international image of the brand.
Interestingly, Renault will reintroduce fog lights at the top trim and they might get full-LED treatment. This is a welcome step bearing in mind that most manufacturers are abandoning fog lamps in new designs completely.
Inspector: Better Quality, Common Design
Inside, Kiger facelift is expected to be upgraded in terms of quality material and will likely have better covering, more soft-touch materials and new trims will be offered according to variant.
The touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto system is likely to continue to be offered on the 8-inch display.
Also, you are not likely to find a sunroof there, but sources outlined that even the top specs of the car will lack a sunroof.
Powertrain: No Changes Under the Hood
The driveline has not changed with the 72 hp 1.0-litre natural aspirated petrol and the 100 hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol characteristics continuing. There will also be no changes in transmission, where a 5-speed manual and AMT will be available with the NA engine and also manual and a CVT with the turbo version.
Competition / Launch Timeline
The updated Renault Kiger will have to give its best shot, with the facelifted Hyundai Venue, Citroen C3, and Skoda Kylaq also throwing in their hats when it comes to capturing attention in the compact SUV segment. Facelift is likely to be launched in the showrooms slightly before the festive season in a bid to cash in on the spate of car-buying optimism that Diwali usually brings in its wake.
In general, the facelift is not the most groundbreaking one, but the minor changes might enable the Kiger to remain competitive and appealing in the ever more saturated segment.
