Renault Triber

Renault Triber is one of the most sold vehicles in India since its inception in 2019. One of the unique selling points of this car is that it is a seven-seater MPV, measuring under 4 metres, and is aggressively priced.

And if you are looking for a preowned Renault Triber, then do check this buyer’s guide. It tells you everything you need to know about Triber, from its performance to features to its variants and pricing in the preowned car market, along with its pros and cons. You can then see if Triber is worth considering.

Check for Features and Space

Features and space are two of the most sought-after factors for a buyer with a large family. You will be surprised to see the amount of space Renault Triber offers inside, even at the back.

The downside is that with all seating in place, it offers only 84 L of space in the boot. You have to fold the rear seats to make space for more luggage.

The car was introduced in 2019 with four trims namely, RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ. It got upgraded to the BS6 version in 2020. Here are a few points for the variants:

  • The base RXE variant offers projector headlights, a dual-tone dashboard, body coloured-bumpers, 14-inch steel wheels, a powered boot opening, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.

  • The RXL adds a wheel cover for the 14-inch steel wheels, chrome-finished grille, AC vents for all three rows, and a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth and USB.

  • The RXT seems to give the most value for money as it adds features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cooled storage in the central console, 12-V charging socket for the middle row, AC vents for all three rows, power adjustable ORVMs, roof rails (with 50kg capacity) and front and rear skid plates.

  • The RXZ additionally features 14-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, premium finishing across the cabin, four airbags, a rear camera, height adjustable driver’s seat, 12-V charging for the last row, rear wiper and washer/defogger, push-button start and cooled lower glovebox.

The RXT variant seems the best of all.

Check for engine, transmission and mileage

  • When launched in 2019, Renault Triber was made available with the 1.0L BS4 engine with a single manual gearbox option. In the following year, the same engine was upgraded to comply with BS6 norms. The three-cylinder engine produces 72PS and 96Nm torque, synced with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox.

  • Though the engine lacks the needed punch, for an average driver, it strikes a nice balance between power and fuel efficiency. Also, the NVH levels could have been better as the engine is loud and vibrations can be felt inside.

  • In terms of fuel economy, it does come off with flying colours as the BS6 manual variant offers 19kmpl, and the AMT versions offer a mileage of 18kmpl.

Test Drive the Preowned Renault Triber

  • Test drive the variant you choose to check the rattling noise inside the cabin. Secondly, if you want the convenience of an AMT gearbox, it is worth taking the help of a mechanic for inspection as many owners have experienced shifting issues with this gearbox.

  • Other complaints with Triber include its struggle to climb sharp slopes, with a full load of passengers. This is important if you live in hilly areas. Maintenance is relatively inexpensive.

Price and Resale Value

  • Renault Triber is versatile, affordable, and suitable for big families and city driving. A new Renault Triber costs around INR 7 and 9 lakhs. A preowned Renault Triber could cost between INR 5 lakhs and 7 lakhs which says a lot about the resale value.

Whether you own a new car or a preowned car, it is important to keep it in a good condition. Park+ is an online platform that offers car services including service reminders, insurance, FASTag, doorstep washing, and booking parking slots.
