Kia Syros EV Unveiled With 526 Km Range, Bookings Open

Kia India has pulled the wraps off the Syros EV, its second mass market electric SUV for the country, bringing a claimed range of up to 526 kilometres, a lifetime battery warranty and an assured buyback scheme. Pre bookings have opened at a token amount of Rs 25,000 through Kia dealerships and the brand's official website, with prices expected to be announced closer to launch.

  • Syros EV offers a segment leading 526 km range and lifetime battery warranty

  • Pre bookings are open at Rs 25,000 ahead of the official price reveal

Kia India has unveiled the Syros EV, the brand's second mass market electric SUV after the Carens Clavis EV. Built on the reinforced K1 platform, the Syros EV shares its powertrain with the Carens Clavis EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric, though its smaller footprint helps it claim a stronger range.

Pre bookings have opened nationwide for a token amount of Rs 25,000 through Kia dealerships and the company's website, on July 15, 2026, ahead of the model's proper launch later this month.

Exterior And Cabin Highlights

Visually, the electric Syros stays close to its petrol sibling. The main giveaway is a charging port on the front fender in place of the fuel filler cap at the rear, while the lighting signatures, body cladding, bumper inserts and 17-inch alloy wheels carry over unchanged.

Buyers get nine colour choices on the regular range, among them Glacier White Pearl, Frost Blue, Gravity Grey, Pewter Olive, Magma Red and both matte and gloss finishes of Ivory Silver, while the X Line trim gets its own palette of Matte Graphite and Aurora Black Pearl.

Inside, the cabin is built around a Trinity Panoramic Display that combines a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3 inch infotainment screen and a 5.0 inch climate control display, along with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, a wireless charging pad and an 8 speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

Battery, Range And Powertrain

The Syros EV is offered with two battery options, a 42 kWh unit and a larger 51.4 kWh pack. Kia claims an ARAI certified range of 526 km for the bigger battery and 443 km for the smaller one, making it the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500 km mark.

The 51.4 kWh version uses a front mounted motor producing 171 hp and 255 Nm and can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds, while the 42 kWh version makes do with 135 hp alongside the same 255 Nm of torque.

Charging Times Explained

Kia offers both 7.4 kW and 11 kW onboard AC charging on the Syros EV. Using the 7.4 kW charger, the 42 kWh battery takes about 6 hours to go from 10 to 100 per cent, while the larger 51.4 kWh pack needs roughly 7 hours and 15 minutes on the same charger.

A 100 kW DC fast charger cuts this down considerably, topping up either battery from 10 to 100 per cent in around 39 minutes.

Features, Safety And Trims

The petrol Syros' sliding, reclining and ventilated rear seats carry over to the EV, alongside powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 64 colour ambient lighting, rear sunshades, a dual camera dashcam and a compact 16 litre frunk.

Safety kit spans Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a 360 degree camera, electronic stability control, hill start assist, front parking sensors and an electronic parking brake. These features will be spread across five trims, namely HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and X Line, with the smaller battery limited to the first three trims and the larger pack offered on every variant except the base model.

Bookings And Ownership Benefits

Kia is banking on ownership confidence to win over first time electric vehicle buyers. Every Syros EV comes with a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty, defined by Kia as 15 years, an Assured Buyback programme to protect resale value and a Battery as a Service scheme that eases the upfront cost. With bookings already underway, attention now shifts to the official price announcement, after which the Syros EV will compete with rivals such as the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
