The Indian electric vehicle (EV) market continues to ramp pace as fuel prices rise, charging infrastructure improves and countries begin to turn greener. Major OEMs are preparing to expand their EV line-ups, considering the mounting demand from the market. Maruti e Vitara
The Maruti e Vitara is likely to be launched in the coming couple of months. Select Nexa dealers have already started taking bookings for the EV. This electric SUV will get a 49kWh and a 61kWh battery pack option with front-axle electric motors. The smaller unit delivers 143bhp, while the larger unit manages 173bhp. Maruti claims that the e-Vitara would provide over 500km in MIDC mileage.
MG Cybester EV
The MG Cybester EV will prove to be India's cheapest sports car, and the price is expected to range from Rs 60 lakh to Rs 70 lakh. Bookings for the EV are already going on across the country. The powerplant configuration of the Cybester will consist of a 77kWh battery optional with a front-axle mounted electric motor rated at 580km range. The power and torque ratings are 510bhp and 725Nm, respectively. The new MG electric sportscar will have a maximum speed of around 200kmph.
MG Windsor EV Long-Range
Very soon, coming weeks, the long-range variant of the MG Windsor EV is expected to launch in dealerships and service centers. It would run using a 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack in combination with an electric motor. The estimated range would be approximately 460 kilometers. It will take almost 46 minutes to charge the battery pack from 0 to 80 percent using a 50kW DC quick charger and 16 hours using an AC charger. Windsor LR will accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds and has a speed limit electronically true 175kmph.
MG M9
MG M9 is a premium electric MPV having a 90kWh battery pack plus an electric motor, which is going to deliver a claimed 241bhp and 350Nm of torque. On full recharge, it promises a distance of about 430 km. It takes around 9 hours to be charged from 10 to 80 percent using an 11kW AC charger. Its range includes a top-up facility of up to 120kW DC fast charging, which will top up the battery in just 36 minutes. The MG M9 is capable of achieving 0 to 100kmph in 9.2 seconds at a top speed of 180kmph.
Tata Harrier EV
The Tata Harrier EV will be the newest electric car to come to India in quite a while, likely going on sale in June 2025. It will be built on the Acti.ev platform and is expected to hold several battery pack choices for the electric SUV. The dual electric motor system and larger battery option are expected in higher trims, covering a range of more than 500km. Spilling the beans earlier, the carmaker specified that the Harrier EV promises to give 500 Nm of peak torque. Also, the benefits of both V2C (vehicle-to-charge) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) capabilities are more than available.
Kia Carens EV
All official details are available related to the electric compact MPV powertrain, but it is expected to house a 42kWh battery along with a 135bhp electric motor. Desiring an entirely new manufacturer with a vision more compatible with that of Hyundai Creta Electric. Admittedly, such a dumb SUV will have a compact, smaller battery pack having a term of claimed ARAI up to a maximum of 390km. For some EV-specific elements, the Kia Carens EV will have a different appearance from that of its ICE version.
Mahindra XUV3XO EV
After that, the next on the list of future electric cars in India is the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Mahindra has yet to announce the launch date and so on. But they were anticipating announcing it in a couple of months. This compact electric SUV is likely to use a 35kWh battery pack, which will be the smaller version of the 40kWh battery of the XUV400 EV. Spy-shot images suggest that the XUV 3XO EV will receive a slightly different grille, new alloys, and a more significant central air intake.
