May 2025 will witness a flux of new car launches across the spectrum. An MPV, a renewed premium hatch, a new version of one more EV, and an entirely new performance hatch will arrive during this new month. Let's take a glance now at the upcoming launches.
2025 Kia Clavis (Carens facelift)
The slate of launches this month starts with the new Clavis. The carmaker has hinted before that the Clavis is not a mere update for the Carens currently on sale, but rather a new addition to the range under a new name. It is slated for launch on 8 May.
The changes may include new front and rear bumper designs, plus new lighting elements at either end, and new alloys and an LED light bar. Elsewhere, a 360-degree camera, ADAS suite, panoramic sunroof, and a completely revamped dashboard would be expected.
On the engine front, the usual 1.5-litre engines should be there: NA petrol, turbo petrol, and diesel, with manual and automatic transmissions.
Tata Altroz Facelift
Next in line will be the Altroz facelift, with prices set to be announced on May 22. This will mark the first major update for the Maruti Baleno rival since its introduction in January 2020.
With the facelift, the Toyota Glanza/Hyundai i20 rival gets a redesigned front facia, new front and rear bumpers, a reworked grille, a new set of alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, LED headlamps, revised upholstery, and some other goodies. The NA petrol, turbo-petrol, CNG, and diesel powertrains, mated with either a manual or automatic transmission, will likely be carried unchanged.
MG Windsor EV Pro
Soon, MG Motor India may release a fresh variant of the Windsor EV. The biggest highlight for this new variant is going to be a larger 50.6 kWh battery pack as opposed to the presently offered 38 kWh pack.
Range may improve from 331km (MIDC cycle) in the 38 kWh pack to 460km (CLTC cycle) in the 50.5 kWh pack, while power delivery will most likely remain unchanged at 134 bhp and 200 Nm. Alongside the bigger battery, the newer variant of Windsor EV shall also be equipped with an ADAS pack, which is currently missing from the existing version.
Volkswagen Golf GTI
Volkswagen will launch the second CBU in India this year, following the Tiguan R-Line. It will probably be offered in a fully loaded single variant with four paint options.
Under the hood, the performance hatch gets a 2.0-litre, TSI petrol four-cylinder, coupled to a seven-speed DSG automated manual. It puts out a max power of 260bhp and 370Nm of torque and can go 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.
