The MG Majestor, a well-known SUV, has been seen in India once more sans camouflage, prompting concerns about when it will be released.
This SUV's definition, potential features and design, and implications for MG's aspirations in India are all covered in this article.
After being seen on Indian roads this week with little to no camouflage, MG's massive SUV, the MG Majestor, has once again made headlines. This uncommon public appearance has rekindled interest in the vehicle's future in India.
The Majestor was unveiled by the British-heritage company at a significant auto show earlier in 2025, but there has been no official word on when or even if it would be available for purchase in India.
Examining the Majestor in More Detail
The Majestor is essentially an improved version of MG's Gloster SUV, with a more contemporary look but the same base and mechanics. Large wheels, connected back lamps, a striking new grille, vertically stacked LED headlights, and other external changes that make it more noticeable on the road than the Gloster are all visible in recent sightings.
Inside, reports indicate new interiors with contemporary technology and off-road-ready features, even though the cabin is still covered in spy photos.
The 2.0-liter diesel engines used in the Gloster family are anticipated to power the Majestor. These could include an 8-speed automatic gearbox coupled to a single-turbo unit that produces about 161 PS and 373 Nm and a twin-turbo version that produces about 216 PS and 478 Nm. Top-tier models may have four-wheel drive with terrain modes to improve off-road performance.
Launch Schedules Remain Unclear
The fact that the SUV has been seen lying idle, even gathering dust, raises the possibility that MG is reevaluating or postponing plans. Despite these sightings, MG has not provided a specific schedule for the Majestor's launch in India. Though nothing is definite yet, experts think a debut might yet occur, possibly in 2026.
How the Market Could Use It
If it is released, the Majestor is anticipated to rank higher in MG's range than the Gloster and may cost more than Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). This would put it in direct conflict with other high-end competitors and well-known big SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner.
If MG proceeds with a formal debut, many auto aficionados view this SUV as a formidable competitor in the market because to its dominating appearance and potent diesel engines.
