Mercedes C-lineup shakes up: Two of the popular model's era finally ends!

Mercedes-Benz trims C-Class range, axing C200 and C220d models, with C300 now the sole choice at Rs. 66.25 lakh, alongside high-performance AMG options.

Mercedes C-Class Gets a Major Shake-Up on April 2, 2025. It wasn’t any April fools’ day prank, but on a serious note, Mercedes has kicked two popular models, the C200 and C220d, off the list. So if you were eyeing any C-lineup, all you have will be the C300 unless we talk about the AMG versions.

Let’s break down further what the deal is about.

What’s Left in the Game?

So, the C200 and C220d? History. Mercedes quietly removed them from their official website, leaving the C300 as the lone survivor. This sleek ride rocks a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with 4 cylinders, pumping out a solid 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Plus, it’s paired with a smooth 9-speed transmission. Fancy, right? It’s now the star of the show in the C-Class family, wearing the cool AMG Line badge.

Price Check Time

Let’s talk about cash. The C200 used to be the budget-friendly pick at Rs. 59.4 lakh—pretty sweet for a Mercedes, huh? Then came the C220d at Rs. 60.3 lakh, followed by the C300 at Rs. 66.25 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Now, with only the C300 left, you’re starting at that higher Rs. 66.25 lakh mark. Not cheap, but you’re getting some serious style and power for it!

The AMG Beasts Still Roar

Don’t worry, thrill-seekers—Mercedes hasn’t ditched the crazy-fast versions. The C43 AMG is still kicking at Rs. 99.4 lakh, and the insane C63 AMG S E Performance will set you back a cool Rs. 1.95 crore (ex-showroom). These are for those who want more than just a ride—they want a rocket on wheels!

Why the Change?

Mercedes hasn’t spilled the tea on why they dropped the C200 and C220d, but it’s clear they’re streamlining things. Maybe they’re betting big on the C300 to steal the show, or they’ve got something new cooking. Either way, the C-Class squad just got smaller, and the C300 is now the main player.

So, there you have it: Mercedes-Benz is keeping it simple but bold with the C-Class in India. The C300 is your ticket to luxury, while the AMGs are there for the speed freaks. What do you think of this shake-up? Do share with us.
