Hyundai has rolled out a much-awaited update to its much-coveted Alcazar SUV by making wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available. The all-new feature would be a plug-and-play-to-adapter worth Rs 3,800. For those who relied on wired connections to integrate their smartphones, this breakthrough will change everything, making their lives easier.
The new function available for the Prestige, Platinum, and Signature trims has not been extended to the entry-level Executive variant, which still does not come with an infotainment system. Such an effort will cause the Alcazar not to lag in the new tech advances, leading to a more seamless and convenient driving experience.
How does the new wireless connectivity work? Regarding the Alcazar's wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, we're looking at an adapter that connects into the SUV's USB-A port for plug-and-play access. Once connected, a user would be able to access:
Navigation Apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, etc.
Music Streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music
Voice commands for hands-free assistance, which means no more cables. A huge win for tech-savvy drivers fond of cleaner dashboards.
Interestingly, though, Hyundai's 5-seater Creta sibling already sports a wireless smartphone connection, just for the mid-spec levels bearing that 8.0-inch screen. Creta, however, doesn't have an onboard variant for its top-end versions, which have dual 10.25-inch screens, just like the Alcazar. Instead of simply doing an in-built software upgrade to the Alcazar, Hyundai chose to offer different adapters to the unit.
Such maintenance of low cost then, enables the existing model to immediately benefit from the upgrade without a major hardware change.
