Mahindra Thar has clocked over one lakh unit sales milestone after recently crossing the one lakh production feat.
The Mahindra Thar received 50,000 bookings within six months of its launch and 75,000 bookings in 12 months. The Mahindra Thar has a long waiting period and it is the courtesy of the semiconductor shortage that still affects the supply chains. The Mahindra Thar is offered in 4x4 and 4x2 options.
The powertrain options include a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that pushes 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, a 2.2-litre, in-line four-cylinder diesel engine that makes a good 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre in-line, four-cylinder petrol engine that does 150 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. Transmission options include six-speed manual and automatic.
The Mahindra Thar base variant is priced at Rs. 10.55 lakh ex-showroom and goes all the way up to Rs. 16.78 lakh. There is a hard top and soft top guise also on offer. The Mahindra Thar wrestles with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha to name a few.
The addition of the Jimny will only make the competition much tougher for the Thar, which was already a crowded space.
