June 2025 Toyota India Sales: 10.4 percent year-over-year increase

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been recording great year-on-year growth in the month of June 2025 and the first quarter of FY 26, largely due to the increased popularity of its hybrid cars and a robust selection of SUV and MV stocks. The company saw a modest decrease of 9.7 percent in sales against the sales made in May 2025 but as compared to the sales made by the company in June 2024, the growth stood at 10.4 percent and the growth was more pronounced in Q1 (where the company experienced an increase of 17.8 percent) compared to the financial year ended pre-virus.

TWO TOYOTA CAMRY'S POSING

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced local sales performance in June 2025, which showed a growth of 10.4 percent on year-on-year (YoY) terms due to a decline in lots as compared to the preceding month.

In the Indian competitive automobile industry, in June 2025, the company had sold 26,453 units as compared to 23,959 units during June 2024, signifying a positive growth trend ascending by the brand in India.

Nevertheless, sales decreased by 9.7 per cent on a month-on-month (MoM) basis in comparison to sales of 29,280 in May 2025. This decline can be summed up as a seasonal trend or change of trend of buyers after the festival season, but the overall performance of Toyota is strong.

Q1 FY26 Records an Impressive Growth

When viewed quarterly, Toyota has recorded a good result in the first quarter of FY26 (April-June 2025). Domestic wholesales were noted at 80,566 units by the company, and the figure is 17.8 percent higher than the 68,411 units in Q1 FY25. This expansion reflects an increase in the acceptance of Toyota's strong hybrid, supported by prolonged demand for Toyota's popular SUV and MPV products.

The major sources of expansion are the performance-oriented cars, like the Innova HyCross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Toyota Taisor, and the legendary Fortuner. The prioritization of heavy-hybrid technology by Toyota, the effective after-sales services, and safety technology only make the suitability of the company to the Indian consumers make sense.

Mid-Year Sales are on a High Momentum

The cumulative (Domestic and Exports) sales recorded by Toyota India in the first half of the calendar year (HI CY25) are 1,74,885 units, and they consist of both domestic sales and exports. This indicates a 16.4 percent growth as compared to HI CY24, when 1,50,250 units were sold.

To understand this fratricide:

  • And its domestic sales were 1,61,531 units, showing a 15.4 percent rise over 1,40,027 units during the corresponding period of last year.

  • Exports witnessed high growth due to a growth of 30.6 percent, coming to 13,354 units compared to 10,223 units in H1 2024.

Increased production provides the exports, which are an indicator of the increased manufacturing capability of Toyota in India as a supplier of compact SUVs and hybrid cars to the international market.

A Strong Hybrid Future

Recharging powerful hybrids is the new trend that is driving the success of Toyota, since they act as a compromise between the traditional ICE exhaust-only vehicles and the full electric cars. The need to manage fuel usage, as well as the emerging interest in conserving the environment, necessitated the use of hybrid vehicles by consumers who are increasingly less interested in range anxiety through fuel-efficient use.

More recently, urban Cruiser Hyryder and hybrid-based Innova HyCross models have been the focus of the Toyota strategy, and have especially boosted its volumes.

Conclusion

Although it witnessed negative growth on a MoM basis, the YoY and quarterly change is encouraging Toyota. As the brand in question keeps focusing on its investments in hybrid technology, customer-centered innovations, and a reliable SUV-MPV range, Toyota can remain on its current course in the changing Indian motor industry.
