The Mahindra BE.07's confirmed 2027 launch timeline, its size, platform, and what to expect under the skin.
Why Mahindra's CEO sees the B07 as a critical volume driver, and what the brand's EV roadmap looks like for the near term.
Mahindra had originally promised its B07 electric SUV, the production version of the eye-catching BE.07 concept, by October 2026. That date has quietly slipped, and at its recent quarterly earnings call, Mahindra confirmed that the next electric offering will now arrive in 2027. It's a small delay in the grand scheme of things, but one that will have eager buyers tapping their fingers just a little longer.
The BE.07 concept was first shown to the world back in August 2022 as part of a dramatic five-model Born Electric reveal. Out of the five concepts revealed at that time, Mahindra has already launched three production models: the BE6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S. The B07 will be the fourth, and by all accounts, the most mainstream of the bunch.
What Is the Mahindra BE.07, Exactly?
Bigger, Bolder, More Practical
The BE.07 will be the second product in Mahindra's BE series, positioned above the BE 6 with a more traditional SUV body style. The concept previewed a large 4.6-metre, 5-seat SUV. Think less rakish coupe-SUV silhouette and more upright, squared-off family haulier, a deliberate move to appeal to buyers who want the space of a conventional SUV without sacrificing the drama of Mahindra's new design language.
The final production version is expected to stay close to the concept, featuring C-shaped headlamps and taillamps, flush door handles, and larger wheel arches. It should cut a distinctive presence on the road without being quite as polarising as the BE 6.
Tech and Batteries
The production-spec BE.07 will be underpinned by the same INGLO platform as Mahindra's existing EVs, with battery options ranging between 60kWh and 80kWh. The platform supports 175kW fast charging, which means topping up to 80 per cent takes just 30 minutes, handy for long-distance travellers.
Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options are anticipated, with real-world range expected to comfortably exceed 500km on the larger battery.
Inside, the BE.07 concept previewed a highly futuristic cabin with a wide triple-screen layout dominating the dashboard, complemented by a large panoramic sunroof and minimal physical buttons.
Whether the production car tones that down remains to be seen, but many existing Mahindra EV owners have already voiced their desire for more tactile, physical controls.
A Volume Driver, Says the Boss
Mahindra's ambitions for the B07 are clear. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra, stated at the earnings call: "We believe the B07 will be a very big volume driver on top of what we are doing with our current three products."
That's a confident claim, and the numbers back up the intent. In just 10 months, the BE6 and XEV 9e have collectively crossed 41,000 units in sales, proving that Indian buyers have a genuine appetite for premium electric SUVs. The B07's more conventional proportions could broaden that appeal considerably.
Price and Launch Date
No official price has been announced yet, but industry estimates place the BE.07's starting figure somewhere in the range of ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh, positioning it squarely in the premium mid-size electric SUV bracket.
Given that the BE 6 starts at just over ₹18 lakh, the BE.07's larger footprint and additional features justify the premium. The expected launch window is June 2027, though Mahindra has yet to confirm a specific date.
As always with upcoming models, treat these figures as indicative rather than definitive until the carmaker makes an official announcement.
What's the Competition?
The production-spec BE.07 will be targeted directly against the likes of the Tata Harrier EV and VinFast VF7. Both are strong contenders in the growing mid-size electric SUV space, and Mahindra will need to bring compelling range, pricing, and tech to win buyers over in what will be an increasingly crowded segment by 2027.
What Happens Before 2027?
Having launched the XEV 9S in late 2025 and the XUV 3XO EV in January 2026, Mahindra has no further EVs planned for 2026. However, the carmaker will bring refreshes to two of its ICE models, including the first mid-cycle facelift for the Scorpio N, along with expected updates to the Thar range.
For EV fans, then, 2026 is a year of patience, but if the B07 delivers on its promise when it finally arrives, the wait may well be worth it.
