Inbound Battery Electric Porsche Caymans Rival Lotus Type 135 Is Here

Inbound battery-electric Porsche Cayman’s Rival Lotus Type 135 is here!

According to the Reports, the Porsche Cayman Electric version is all set to be revealed and unveiled by ‘Son of Emira’ which is to be priced at $140K when it hits the road. Following the announcement, the Lotus Type 135 indicates that the all-new EV sports car will be priced at less than £75,000 ($A140,000) when it launches in 2027, making it a direct competitor for the upcoming Porsche Cayman and Boxster replacement that runs on batteries.

Lotus Design's Development

The Type 135 stands out from other standard EVs thanks to its sleek profile and low-slung attitude, which are examples of its unique design language. This new electric sports car seeks to reinvent the brand's legacy in the sports car market, using cues from the flagship Evija supercar and contemporary Lotus models.

LEVA stands for Lightweight Electric Vehicle Architecture

The new Lotus Elise-replacing sports car (codenamed Type 135) was first developed alongside a similarly-sized Alpine model before the French brand pulled the pin. It will be built on Lotus' brand-new Lightweight Electric Vehicle Architecture and feature a battery pack placed behind the cabin to mimic the weight distribution of a car with a mid-engine.

Modern Technology

The Type 135 is set to feature a traditional "mid-engined" configuration, with a vertical battery stack located behind the seats. The battery size of entry-level vehicles will be 66kWh, while luxury versions will include a 99kWh option. The 350kW (469bhp) rear-mounted electric motor that powers the Type 135 is expected to be supported by two motors for a powerful 650kW output.

Lineup of Lotus Electric Vehicles

With the success of the Evija hypercar, Lotus now offers the Type 135 as part of their electric vehicle lineup. Lotus intends to appeal to a wide spectrum of enthusiasts with plans for five core vehicles that include sports cars, SUVs, and grand tourers. In keeping with the brand's history, the sports vehicles will continue to be built in England, even though the "lifestyle" models will be constructed in China.

Accepting Innovation and Tradition

A major turning point for Lotus, the Type 135 maintains the spirit of a true sports car while moving in the direction of electrification. With a focus on bespoke engineering and performance, Lotus aims to capture the essence of its iconic predecessors like the Elise and Esprit, offering a seamless transition for loyal

Electric Sports Cars' Future

With competitors like Porsche and Alpine preparing to enter the electric sports car market, Lotus faces intense competition as it gets ready to introduce the Type 135. Offering a captivating fusion of history and cutting-edge technology, Lotus is positioned to completely reshape the electric sports car market with a dedication to innovation and performance. A testament to Lotus's continuous commitment to automotive quality, the Lotus Type 135 is coming soon. Stay tuned for more information.
