Honda has unveiled the third-generation Amaze compact sedan, starting at ₹8.00 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a modern, stylish alternative in the subcompact sedan market, the new Amaze boasts design inspirations from Honda’s premium models, enhanced features, and advanced safety systems.
Pricing and Variants
The new Amaze is available in three trims – V, VX, and ZX – with options for both manual and CVT automatic transmissions. Prices range from ₹8.00 lakh for the entry-level V trim (manual) to ₹10.90 lakh for the top-spec ZX CVT variant. Honda offers a 3-year/unlimited km warranty as standard, with deliveries starting next month.
Striking Exterior Design
The front bumper integrates sculpted fog lamp housings, giving the sedan a bold stance. A prominent character line flows along the side, enhancing its sharp, aerodynamic profile. The 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and relocated wing mirrors further elevate the design. At the rear, the tail-lamps and bumper design echo the styling cues of the City, adding maturity to the compact sedan’s look. The Amaze is available in six colors, including the new Obsidian Blue Pearl and Radiant Red Metallic.
Enhanced Interior and Features
The centerpiece is an 8-inch floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The addition of Honda Sensing ADAS makes the Amaze the most affordable sedan in India equipped with advanced driver-assist systems.
Performance and Efficiency
Under the hood, the new Honda Amaze continues to be powered by the reliable and efficient 1.2-liter, four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine. This engine delivers a power output of 90hp and a peak torque of 110Nm, ensuring a balanced performance for both city commuting and highway cruising.
Known for its smooth refinement and responsive nature, the i-VTEC engine has been a hallmark of Honda’s petrol lineup, offering an engaging driving experience.
The engine comes paired with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual gearbox for enthusiasts who prefer complete control over gear shifts, and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that features paddle shifters for a semi-manual feel. The CVT option stands out as an excellent choice for those seeking convenience and seamless driving in urban environments, while the paddle shifters add a sporty touch, allowing drivers to manually select gears when needed.
In terms of efficiency, Honda claims an impressive fuel economy of 18.65kpl for the manual variant and an even higher 19.46kpl for the CVT-equipped model, making the Amaze a practical option for buyers prioritizing fuel savings. These figures highlight the sedan’s efficiency-oriented engineering, achieved without compromising on its performance capabilities.
Rivals and Market Position
While the new Honda Amaze misses out on a factory-fitted CNG variant—an increasingly popular choice in the compact sedan segment, particularly among cost-conscious buyers—it compensates more than with its striking design, advanced features, and enhanced comfort. The bold, contemporary styling of the Amaze, inspired by Honda's premium models like the Elevate and City, ensures it stands out in a crowded segment.
Inside, the spacious cabin with thoughtful design elements and premium materials creates a sense of sophistication and comfort, catering to families and urban professionals alike.
What truly sets the Amaze apart is the inclusion of Honda’s Sensing ADAS suite, a first in this segment, offering advanced safety features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking, elevating the driving experience to a new level of convenience and security. Coupled with its competitive pricing and thoughtful upgrades, the new Amaze reflects Honda’s commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining expectations in the compact sedan market.
