The V12's familiar growl has reached Indian shores in the guise of the Ferrari 12Cilindri. As part of the globally unveiled in May 2024, this new flagship celebrates Ferrari's 70th anniversary in the American market, meaning that the 12Cilindri is now launched in India only in the coupe (Berlinetta) form and marks the end of the glorious run of the 812 Superfast.
As a sign of remarkable engineering and beautiful design, the 12Cilindri is set to unleash the potent engine.
Heart of the Beast: The V12 Engine
At the heart of the 12Cilindri sits a stunning 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, derived from Ferrari's F140HD unit and inspired in part by the track-focused 812 Competizione.
The 12Cilindri generates a staggering 819 bhp (609 kW) at 9,250 rpm and 678 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm - no hybrid, no turbos, just old-fashioned V12 power. To achieve a phenomenal 9,500 rpm redline, Ferrari utilized some cutting-edge lightweight technologies like titanium connecting rods and aluminum alloy pistons.
The engine uses some crazy F1-derived technology, like sliding finger followers and the newly developed "Aspirated Torque Shaping" system, which provide exceptional power delivery and drivability as well as delivery.
Matched with a new 8-speed dual-clutch transaxle, the 12Cilindri screams from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, 0 to 200 in under 7.9 seconds, and has a top speed exceeding 340 km/h. And when you want to stop, the car also performs exceptionally well in this domain, stopping from 100 km/h in just 31.4 meters.
Design: Classic Inspiration with Modern Flair
The design of the 12Cilindri, from Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Styling Centre, is greatly influenced by Ferrari's grand tourers of the 1960s and 70s. The bold black stripe down the centre of the bonnet is a nod to the legendary 365 GTB/4 Daytona.
The aerodynamics of the body, the active flaps and vortex generators contribute to low drag and low downforce; at speed, it can produce as much as 50 kg of rear downforce. The coupe body has a total length of 4,730 mm with perfect weight distribution and a lightweight, stiff aluminium coating chassis that is 15% stiffer than it's predecessor.
High-Tech Chassis and Features
The all new aluminium chassis is equipped with renewed Virtual Short Wheelbase 3.0 four-wheel steering, Ferrari's latest Side Slip Control system, upgraded carbon ceramic brakes, and 21-inch wheels outfitted with leading-edge Michelin or Goodyear tires.
Luxurious Digital Cabin
The Ferrari 12Cilindri's interior represents a great departure in GT interiors — no analogue dials here, just a fully digital layout. The driver has the wide field of view of a 15.6-inch curved display, with a central 10.25-inch touchscreen for infotainment & climate control, and an 8.8-inch display for the passenger, drawing both riders into the experience of driving.
The Ferrari 12Cilindri includes performance, timeless design, and contemporary technology - truly a vintage of Ferrari's V12 legacy, now in India.
