Citroen India is all set to add a new flavor to its lineup. The French automaker has confirmed the announcement of prices for the Dark Editions of the C3 hatchback, C3 Aircross SUV, and yet-to-be-launched Basalt Coupe SUV on April 10, 2025.
Fresh teasers released just before the launch are giving the enthusiasts a peek into what to expect, and the updates are more than just a dark paint job.
Exterior and Interior Update
The Dark Editions should feature a deep black exterior finish with dark chrome embellishments on the grille and badges.
In the interest of design acrobatics, Citroen will offer dual-tone alloy wheels maintained with silver inserts in the front and rear bumpers. Inside the cabin is a premium upgrade with black leatherette upholstery offset by contrast red stitching and grey seat inserts.
For the Aircross and Basalt, a new leatherette dashboard finish does well to class this model up while putting a little down on the plastic-heavy setup that prevails in the brand's current offerings. The newly added interior features include illuminated sill plates and ambient footwell lighting, which add just the right amount of drama for nighttime driving.
Performance: No Mechanical Changes
Citroen has kept things very much the same under the skin. The Dark Editions will still be powered by either the 82hp naturally aspirated or 110hp turbo variant of the 1.2-liter petrol engine.
However, it is predicted that these special editions would only be offered on the completely loaded turbo variants with both manual and automatic transmission options.
Dark Edition Craze Continues
With dark versions of SUVs already being launched by brands like Tata, Hyundai, Mahindra, Jeep, and MG, it was only a matter of time before Citroen waded into the fray. This addition boosts the aesthetics of Citroen's lineup but also mirrors the increasing demand for bold and distinct aesthetics within the Indian market.
