Renault Kwid

The Renault Kwid has established itself as an entry-level city car in India, that is high on style and features but affordable at the same time. The Kwid has now become the highest-volume model for Renault in India.

Renault has updated all the variants of the Kwid ahead of the RDE emission compliance deadline. As per this update, the variants equipped with a 0.8-litre petrol engine are no longer on sale. All the variants now feature the 1.0-litre petrol engine as standard, with some new features introduced across the lineup.

Renault Kwid: Specifications of engine and transmission

The 2023 Renault Kwid now comes with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine as the standard powertrain. All the variants of the Kwid now come with this engine, which claims 68 PS of power and 91 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is the standard transmission across the variant lineup. However, the higher-spec variants of the Kwid also come with the option of a 5-speed AMT.

Renault Kwid: Dimensions

All the variants of the Kwid measure 3731mm long, 1579mm wide, and 1474mm tall. The top-spec Climber variant of the Kwid comes with roof rails, due to which its height is 1490mm. The 184mm ground clearance of the Kwid is currently the highest in its segment, contributing to its SUV-like appeal.

Renault Kwid: Variants

The variant lineup of the Renault Kwid gets revisions with the 2023 model, which is now available in RXE, RXL, RXL (O), RXT, and Climber. The entire variant lineup of the Kwid gets the same 1.0-litre petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, you can opt for a 5-speed AMT in the higher-spec RXT and Climber variants.

Renault Kwid: Features offered across all variants

All the variants of the Renault are differentiated based on the exterior, interior, and safety features on offer. Here are all the features you will get in various variants of the Kwid:

RXE - Rs 4.70 lakh

This base-spec variant of the Kwid comes only with basic features like power steering, daytime running LEDs, and an integrated rear spoiler. The standard safety features are dual front airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, ESP, traction control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. You should buy this variant only if you are too tight on a budget.

RXL - Rs 5.00 lakh

A few more features offered in this RXL variant over the Renault Kwid base model RXE include manual AC, a 12V power socket, rear grab handles, and remote central locking. If you are looking for a base-spec car, this is the Kwid variant you should buy for the added convenience of an AC.

RXL (O) - Rs 5.23 lakh

For just Rs 23,000 more than the RXL variant, the RXL (O) comes with wheel covers, LED inserts in tail lamps, and a 1-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB, and two speakers. Additionally, it gets front power windows, speed adjusters for the front windshield wipers, and manual AC. This variant makes more sense over the RXL for the additional features it offers you for a small premium.

RXT - Rs 5.68 lakh (manual), Rs 6.13 lakh (AMT).

This high-spec Renault Kwid variant features additional styling highlights like silver-finished, electrically-adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators and blacked-out B-pillars on the outside. It also gets chrome highlights for the instrument console, gear lever, AC vents, and controls for the AC and infotainment systems. However, the most crucial addition to this variant is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. More features in this variant include steering-mounted audio controls, a USB charger, rear power windows, a hill start assist, and a rear camera.

Climber - Rs 5.88 lakh (manual), Rs 6.33 lakh (AMT).

Based on the RXT variant, the Climber gets a few additional highlights, like a white finish for ORVMs, roof rails, front and rear skid plates, side body mouldings, and more colour-coded highlights inside-out. It also gets an additional 12V socket for rear passengers.

Which Renault Kwid variant makes the most sense?

If you ask us, the RXT variant of the Kwid is the most sensibly packaged. For a small premium over the variant below it, it gets many modern must-haves, like a touchscreen infotainment system and steering-mounted controls. It also offers the convenience of choosing the optional AMT gearbox.

The RXT variant is also easy to live with due to the availability of a reverse camera. Along with the standard reverse parking sensors, the camera makes parking operations of the Renault Kwid very easy. However, if you want even more convenience in parking your Kwid safely and securely, Park+ is very handy, with its feature of finding and booking a parking slot. You can do this even before arriving at the parking spot, and that too from the convenience of your car cabin. You can read more details about this feature of Park+ download the Park+ App
