2025 Maruti Celerio Gets Safety Upgrade with Price Hike
Maruti Suzuki has introduced the updated 2025 Maruti Celerio in India, bringing an important safety upgrade while revising the price structure. The most significant change is the inclusion of six airbags as standard across all variants, replacing the previous two-airbag setup. With this enhancement, the Celerio strengthens its position as a safer hatchback option in the budget-friendly segment.
However, with this safety upgrade comes a price increase, affecting all variants of the entry-level hatchback. The price hike ranges between Rs 16,000 and Rs 32,500, depending on the variant.
2025 Maruti Celerio New Prices
Variant | Ex-Showroom Price |
---|---|
LXi | Rs 5.64 lakh |
VXi MT | Rs 5.99 lakh |
VXi AMT | Rs 6.49 lakh |
VXi CNG MT | Rs 6.89 lakh |
ZXi MT | Rs 6.39 lakh |
ZXi+ MT | Rs 6.87 lakh |
ZXi+ AMT | Rs 7.37 lakh |
The base LXi variant sees the highest price jump of Rs 27,500, while the ZXi+ AMT trim is now costlier by Rs 32,500. The VXi AMT variant has become dearer by Rs 21,000, while the VXi MT and VXi CNG MT versions get a Rs 16,000 hike.
Same Engine, No Mechanical Changes
Apart from the new safety feature and price hike, the 2025 Maruti Celerio remains unchanged mechanically. It continues to be powered by the 1.0L, three-cylinder K10C petrol engine, which delivers 67bhp and 89Nm of torque.
The five-speed manual transmission is standard across the lineup, while the five-speed AMT gearbox is available from the VXi trim onwards. The CNG variant, which remains an attractive option for fuel-conscious buyers, continues to be available in the lineup.
Mileage Figures Remain Impressive
Despite the price hike, Maruti Suzuki maintains the Celerio’s fuel efficiency figures, making it one of the most fuel-efficient hatchbacks in its class:
25.24 kmpl (LXi, VXi, and ZXi manual)
26.68 kmpl (VXi AMT)
24.97 kmpl (ZXi+ MT)
26 kmpl (ZXi AMT)
A Safer, More Expensive Maruti Celerio
With six airbags as standard, the 2025 Maruti Celerio has become a safer option in the entry-level hatchback segment. However, the price hike may push some buyers to explore other options within the same price range. While the safety update is a welcome move, the increase in cost may influence purchase decisions in a highly competitive segment.
For those prioritizing safety, fuel efficiency, and affordability, the Celerio still remains a strong contender. But with rising competition from Tata, Hyundai, and Renault, buyers will need to weigh their options before making a decision.
