Lakhan Singh Yadav, the deputy commissioner of police for traffic in Noida, argues that one of the main reasons for traffic bottlenecks is a lack of lane discipline. To prevent commuters from changing lanes at the last minute once they have entered the crossroads, Noida Traffic focused on three specific locations - the Charkha roundabout near Amity University, the Gardens Galleria Mall to Film City, and the Bird Feeding Point near Dalit Prerna Sthal.
Traffic Police to set up signboards
Noida Traffic has put up signboards that read "Lane Change Zone Start" or "Lane Change Prohibited" to help commuters comprehend. Commuters have plenty of time to change lanes or stay in their current lane because the Lane Change signs are placed nearly 100 meters before the roundabouts or crossroads.
This has a very straightforward explanation. When motorists start cutting into other lanes, it disrupts the flow of traffic and may cause a dead stop since other vehicles may not have the time or space to react.
Commuters attract fines if rules are violated
The Motor Vehicles Act's Sections 119 and 177 mandate that all drivers abide by all traffic signs and laws. A punishment of Rs 2,000 could be imposed for disregarding signs such as "Lane Change Zone Start" or "Lane Change Prohibited." Commuters who consistently disobey these lane-changing regulations risk even more severe punishments under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which imposes a Rs 5,000 fine for reckless driving.
Police Personnel to be dispatched at above said locations
Three traffic police officers will be on duty at the specified site from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. and then from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. to guarantee that the regulation is properly enforced. Police officers will first issue e-challans to the infractions, and then cameras will be installed.
Conclusion
With Noida Traffic Police actively enforcing lane discipline at key congestion points, commuters must adhere to the new rules to avoid hefty fines. The placement of signboards and the deployment of traffic personnel highlight the city's commitment to smoother traffic management. While cutting corners may seem like a time-saver, it ultimately leads to delays and penalties. Following lane discipline not only prevents unnecessary challans but also ensures safer and more efficient roadways for everyone. Stay in your lane, follow the signs, and drive responsibly to avoid the Rs. 2,000 fine!
