4th Generation Swift Sport to get a mild-hybrid setup and to be launched in 2026.

Based on the third-generation Swift, Suzuki just unveiled the Swift Sport ZC33S Final Edition. Sales will begin in March 2025 and run until November 2025. According to recent reports, Suzuki might introduce the fourth-generation Swift Sport in 2026.

The engine will remain the same, but it will probably get a significant upgrade to improve performance. Additionally, a 48V mild hybrid arrangement will be advantageous for the fourth-generation Swift Sport. The 1.4-liter, turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine that powers the current third-generation Swift Sport produces 140 PS and 130 Nm. Six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions are available.

Updated Powertrain of the 4th Generation Swift Sport

The 4th-generation Swift Sport is anticipated to perform better overall in comparison. The improved 1.4-liter gasoline engine may produce about 150 PS and 240 Nm of torque. As a component of the 48V mild hybrid system, the electric drive motor will provide an extra 15 PS and 59 Nm.

There will be two transmission options: 6MT and 6AT. The fourth-generation Swift Sport will be offered with front-wheel drive, just like the current model.

Exterior updates of 4th Generation Swift Sport

The fourth-generation Swift Sport will measure 3,990 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. It will feature a 2,450 mm wheelbase. With a weight of about 960 kg, the fourth-generation Swift Sport will be marginally lighter than the current model, which weighs about 970 kg.

The 4th-generation Swift Sport will have a superior power-to-weight ratio because it also has greater performance figures. Fans of Swift Sport and performance fanatics will find the new model even more tempting as a result.

Price of the 4th Gen Swift Sport and information on India Launch

The fourth-generation Swift Sport is anticipated to retail for between 2.3 million and 2.5 million yen (between Rs 13.56 lakh and Rs 14.74 lakh). In 2026, a launch in Japan is anticipated. It is unlikely that Swift Sport would be released in India because of its comparatively higher price.

In the Indian market, sales quantities won't be sufficient to guarantee the hot hatch's commercial viability. In India, the basic 4th-generation Swift costs between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.49 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki’s other plans for the Indian market

Concerning the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki has alternative ambitions. Establishing India as a significant EV manufacturing hub is crucial.

Both the domestic and foreign markets will be served by these EVs. Maruti Suzuki aims to become the leading brand in EV production, sales, and exports in India by FY2030. Suzuki plans to introduce four new electric vehicles in India to meet that challenging target.

New EVs to be launched soon

The eVitara, Maruti's first electric vehicle for India, is anticipated to be on sale shortly. The Fronx EV will be the second Maruti electric vehicle after that. This is most likely going to be Maruti Suzuki's entry-level EV in India.

Ertiga in electric form could be one of the models for the other two. A mid-size electric SUV that competes with competitors like the Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV is another option.

Conclusion

The fourth-generation Swift Sport is set to bring a mild-hybrid system and improved performance, making it a more exciting hot hatch. With an upgraded 1.4-liter engine, a 48V hybrid assist, and a lighter body, the new model aims to offer better power-to-weight efficiency. While the Swift Sport is unlikely to be launched in India due to pricing concerns, Maruti Suzuki has ambitious EV plans for the Indian market. The company is gearing up to establish itself as a key player in electric vehicle manufacturing, with multiple EVs, including the eVitara and Fronx EV, in the pipeline.
