MINI India has opened early bookings for the Cooper Oxford Edition, a limited-run special edition of the Cooper 3-door.
The edition is based on the Cooper S Favoured Pack, which gives it a 204 hp, 1,998 cc petrol engine. It comes in Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red, with Union Jack graphics as its main design theme.
The design leads with a Union Jack contrast roof on a Glazed White base, plus Union Jack bonnet and boot stripes and a Flags boot sticker. Oxford hub caps, door entry sills and floor mats add to the theme, along with Union Jack valve caps, a steering wheel badge and a key cap.
Cooper S Mechanicals With Union Jack Styling
The mechanicals match the standard Cooper S, with no separate tune claimed.
| Item | Specification for India |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1,998 cc four-cylinder petrol, 7-speed Steptronic automatic |
| Power and torque | 204 hp (150 kW) and 300 Nm, from 1,450 to 4,500 rpm |
| 0 to 100 km/h | 6.6 seconds, manufacturer claim |
| Fuel economy and CO2 | 16.82 km/l and 141 g/km, manufacturer claims |
A Quick Note: These fuel and CO2 figures are manufacturer claims measured under Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) conditions, including the Rule 115 emission test cycle, and not independent road results.
Safety equipment includes front and passenger airbags, Dynamic Stability Control and a Level 1 driver assistance pack with front collision and lane departure warnings.
The car also gets 18-inch two-tone wheels, LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof and John Cooper Works (JCW) sport seats. It has a 240 mm OLED touchscreen, a head-up display, Harman Kardon sound, wireless charging, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Why the Edition Exists
The edition marks 25 years of MINI at Plant Oxford. MINI India calls it a tribute to the brand's home, with the Union Jack roof as the highlight. The press release adds that the classic Mini was first built at Oxford in 1959, and that BMW Group has built the modern MINI there since 2001.
It is a special edition, not a new generation or a regular new variant.
What It Means for Buyers
For now, this is an early booking window with few firm details. There is no launch date, ex-showroom price, booking amount, refund terms, India unit count or delivery start date. MINI says the car will come in limited quantities.
MINI lists 18 sales touchpoints in 17 cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. Service runs through the BMW Group India aftersales network, with 51 touchpoints in 36 cities.
Before paying anything, ask your dealer for details. Moreover, the Oxford Edition is a Cooper S, so its case rests on design and equipment rather than the engine (expected to sit above ₹44.45 lakh to ₹55.65 lakh ex-showroom). Whether that is worth the price depends on a figure MINI has yet to announce.
