MG Motor India has announced significant updates to its popular Hector lineup, including the introduction of two new trims and a notable reduction in prices.
The brand has introduced the Shine Pro and Select Pro trims, replacing the Shine and Smart variants, respectively. Moreover, the starting price of the Hector has been lowered to Rs 14 lakh, marking a substantial reduction of Rs 95,000 compared to previous prices. This price adjustment represents the second decrease within the past six months.
The newly introduced Shine Pro trim offers enhanced features compared to its predecessor, including LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED projector headlights, and a 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Meanwhile, the Select Pro trim, positioned above the Shine Pro, adds larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and connected car features.

In addition to the Hector lineup, the Hector Plus also receives updates with the introduction of the Select Pro trim, replacing the Smart variant. Prices for the petrol and diesel variants of the Hector Plus Select Pro have increased by Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. Notably, a new entry-level Style trim has been introduced for the Hector Plus, available at Rs 17 lakh for the diesel-manual variant, significantly reducing the price by Rs 2.40 lakh.
The Hector and Hector Plus continue to offer a choice of powertrains, including a 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox, and a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Competing in the crowded SUV segment, the MG Hector takes on rivals such as the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, and 5-seater versions of the Mahindra XUV700, while the Hector Plus competes against the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and 7-seater XUV700.
These updates reflect MG's commitment to offering competitive pricing and enhancing the value proposition for its customers in the ever-evolving automotive market.
